  • A New Colony

    A New Colony
    Stephen F. Austin started a new colony on the lower Colorado River. 300 families came to this new colony and agents started noticing it. In exchange of this land all to themselves they would have to follow Mexico's laws.
  • Ban of Americans

    Ban of Americans
    The Americans weren't following the Mexicans laws in this new colony. For Example, the Mexicans told the Americans no slaves and then some Americans would buy slaves. Since the Americans were not following Mexico's laws they banned further settlement by Americans.
  • Texas Declared Independence

    In 1836 Texas declared their independence from Mexico. The Texas constitution made slavery legal which made a lot of people happy because that was a law they wanted.
  • The Battle of the Alamo

    The Battle of the Alamo
    The Battle of the Alamo is a war that the Texans lost sadly. For two weeks the Texans held out to form a bigger army to fight Mexico. But, on March 6, 1836 right before dawn the Mexicans fought and won. Many Texans died and only a few survived.
  • Battle at San Jacinto

    One day while the Mexicans were resting Houston force's attacked. While they were attacking they shouted, "Remember the Alamo! Remember Goliad!"

    When Texas was only 70 years old they already needed more space for farms, ranches, businesses, and growing families. So they started looking for more land.

    After many years of fighting and war, Mexico and Texas are finally friends when they sign a peace treaty.
  • Mexican-American War

    President Polk went to Mexico and offered to buy it for $30 million. But the Mexican officials would not speak to him about the offer. General Taylor took his troops to the town of Matamoros and camped out. The Mexican Taylor told them to leave and they said they would not which lead us to war.

    The city of Mexico fell and Santa Ann fled the which meant the end of the war. The war officially ended when they signed the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. When they signed the treaty it meant that Mexico had to give a lot of their land to the U.S.

    The U.S. Army had better everything they had better weapons and equipment. Although they had all this nice stuff they were not prepared to fight. Many of the people who weren't at war supported it.
