    Christopher Columbus Discovers America
    This is literally the discovery of America! In 1492, Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue (something like that). Europe thus began their conquest of the new world.
  • Walter Raleigh Settles in North America

    Walter Raleigh Settles in North America
    Walter Raleigh is approved to settle in America and begins a colony named Roanoke. This historically infamous colony is later found deserted with only the word “croatoan” left engraved in a tree.
  • Jamestown

    Colonists led by John Smith land at Jamestown. This marks the first American colony settlement. Many of these colonists were Protestants I think.
  • French and Indian War

    British American colonies and French American colonies fighting over new land, both with the aid of American Indians. It’s importance lies in the huge expansions in the New world that Britain gained by winning. The war ended in the Treaty of Paris.

    The transcontinental railroad was the West’s form of connection between Iowa and rapidly developing California. It spanned 1,912 miles to connect with the east’s already well developed railroad.
