    The New York colony is the third colony (originally New Amsterdam, annexed by England) founded by the Dutch West India company. It was one of the New England colonies.

    The Maryland colony was the fourth colony and was religious. This colony was owned by Lord Baltimore until 1689. Tobacco was grown in this colony.

    The fifth colony known as the Rhode island colony was founded by Rodger Williams, who was banished from Boston by Governor Winthrop for his beliefs. He believed in the separation of the church and the government.

    Georgia was founded to give people in debt a chance to escape it. At first, there was no slavery, but it soon grew.
