    Tiny hole. Big hill. In Luray, Virgina, 5 men found a tiny hole in a big hill. They pushed rocks away for hours, and they found a small cave-type area that they decided to explored. They found stalactites and stalagmites, and it was later visited by researchers. It is now one of the most-visited caves and almost half a million people visit every year.

    1936: The Blue Ridge Parkway revs up
    Since the 1930s was the "age of the automobile," the creation of this 469 mile road was just was sightseers needed. They could see "nature through their windshields" from Virginia to North Carolina. It is the second most visited national park service. There were 14 million visitors on this Parkway in 2014.
