    When there was the impressment of U.S. sailors, they made this act to stop foreign trade. Money greatly decreased and domestic manufacturing had to increase.

    A compromise that added California as a free state and made slave trade illegal in some places. However, the Fugitive Slave law was created, which was meant to capture runaway slaves.

    This act made it so this territory would be up to Popular Sovereignty to make them free or slave. This made riots and many people race to make it to the states and influence votes.

    Dred Scott v. Sandford
    The very notable court case that said that all blacks were considered property and not citizens. They also said that the Missouri Compromise was unconstitutional.

    This was the Election of Abraham Lincoln. The South was so angry that they all seceded because he was against the expansion of slavery.

    A document that allowed all able bodied men to fight in the war for freedom! This also freed all slaves back in the Confederate States.

    This was when states were freed after the Civil War. There were many instabilities when it came to the South and the loss of slaves. This ended in 1877 with the removal of the military.

    A compromise that was made so that Hiram Revels could become president. In exchange, however, he had to take the Union out of the reconstructing Southern states.
