    The great depression came just after the stock market crash, during this time (dirty thirties) many Canadians were homeless, jobless, and dying of starvation, poor living conditions, etc. This shaped Canada only slightly by making many things like unemployment insurance, child benefits, and sick benefits available.

    The Persons Case was to legally make women "people" in the BNA Act, this case allowed women to finally be elected into the senate and was a step towards equality for men and women, and the case being won allowed Cairine Wilson to be elected as Canada's first women senator.

    The statue of Westminster gave Canada independence n making their own national decisions. This changed Canada and made it more recognizable as its own country.

    The CRBC (Canadian Radio Broadcasting Commission) was founded and changed the way news and events would be broadcasted forever, it also provided more jobs for Canadians.

    in 1932 the government set up relief camps for unemployed single men to live and work in, although these seemed helpful the conditions in these camps were terrible and eventually lead to many protest. These camps came with good intentions to help Canadians deal with the depression but gave the government a bad reputation because of the terrible conditions.

    The birth of the Dionne quintuplets was a huge spectacle in Canada, the quintuplets were used in shows as acts. This was obviously not a great thing to do to poor babies and their parents but other than impacting the Dionnes this did not have an impact on shaping Canada

    The on to Ottawa trek was a bunch of people that were put in unemployment relief camps coming together to protest against the poor conditions in the camps, they traveled by train to Vancouver and Ottawa. The leaders of the trek eventually got arrested and lead to a riot. The riot ended up having many injured and one constable killed.

    The National film Board was originally created to create propaganda for WWII the film board also brought more jobs to Canada and more attention to the country, this helped us create our great movie making business today, and it was a reason so many Canadians wanted fight in WWII.

    In 1939 the US wanted to build a huge atomic bomb to bomb Hiroshima, this bomb killed thousands but Canada's role in it was crucial, Canadians helped the US figure out how much uranium to use and provided them with resources and space, this gave many more Canadians jobs and showed other countries what Canadian scientist were capable of.

    Nutrition experiments were conducted on Indigenous children in residential schools starting in 1940 and lasting until 1950. These experiments cut down the children's food, and vitamin intakes just to see what would happen and not caring how many children died that way.

    The Dieppe Raid was one of the biggest raids in WWII, thousands of Canadians and allies died, this showed their military that they need to be stronger and expect the worse in future battles unless they want an outcome like that again, this helped shape our military.

    In 1942 the Canadian government decided to ban all Japanese Canadian people from the West coast, many of them were housed in "interior housing centers" which were quickly put together and were not protective in extreme weather, a lot of them also signed contracts to work on farms.

    In 1942 the house of commons created a committee to look into the economic, social, and political society in Canada. This committee noticed that Indigenous peoples had the worst living conditions in Canada. this was a big step because it was one of the first times the government realized the state Indigenous were living in, and eventually lead to allowing Indigenous peoples to vote.

    The goal of D-Day was for the US, Canada and Britain to go fight against the Nazis taking over Europe, the outcome of this day came with many casualties (deaths, wounded soldiers, missing, etc.) but also brought together the US and Canada to fight towards the same cause and form a stronger alliance between them.

    After the war Canada's economy strengthened a lot as the workforce became more inclusive of women, Canada also clearly established their independence after the war.
