Billy's Birth
Billy was born on the 4th of July in Ilium, New York. He's tall and skinny. -
Billy's Drafted
Billy Pilgrim is an optometry school student in upstate New York when he is drafted to join the army in 1944. He is sent to Luxembourg to fight the Germans in the Battle of the Bulge. -
Stuck in time
Billy's first experience of being stuck in time while he was in WW2. -
Box Car
Ronald Weary dies in a boxcar because of gangrene that he got because his feet were very damaged from having to wear a pair of wooden clogs the Germans gave him when they took his combat boots. He dies saying bad things about Billy because he blames his death of Billy and says that Billy is the reason they were found and captured by the Germans in the first place. -
Arrival of Dresden
The officer approaches Billy group and tells them to look presentable. He tells them they will be leaving their prison camp in the afternoon and head to Dresden. He describes Dresden as an open city, he says there are no war industries or troop concentrations and that they will no ave to worry about being bombed. Billy's memory of the future reminds him that the city will be bombed in about a month, and that most of the people watching this parade of American prisoners will be killed. -
The dog "revenge"
Lazaro is such an awful person that one time he took a steak and a spring, cut the spring into sharp points, put the sharp points in the steak and throw it for the dog to eat. When the dog ate the steak full of sharp points the dog was bleeding and crying out in pain and he watched it. -
POW Camp
Lazaro threatens Billy in the POW camp and tells him to get out of the hospital bed and get dressed because he is fine. -
Plane Crash
In 1968 Billy gets into a plane crash on his way to an optometry conference in Montreal. He has a terrible skull fracture. Valencia dies of carbon monoxide poisoning on her way to see him in the hospital. Billy recovers from the skull fracture and then runs away from the hospital. -
Valencia's death
Billy's wife dies from carbon monoxide poisoning from a car crash she got in on the way to see Billy in the hospital from a plane crash. -
Billy Dies
Billy is killed exactly the time he predicted it would be.
