Rise of Christianity in the Roman Empire timeline

-Rome ruling over this Israel was mostly a strategic choice because it would leave the crossroads connecting the lands of Europe, Asia, and Africa open to be able to be traversed continuously.
- Rome would let the Jews keep their religion as long as they paid their dues to Rome which they accepted.

-Rome gave certain permissions to the Jews under Roman law like not having to serve in the Army because of their beliefs.
-Jews would ask to stop having people refer to Jehovah(God) as a king.

-Jesus of Nazareth is the main forefront of all Christian beliefs and is considered by many to be the incarnation of God
-Jesus of Nazareth was a carpenter for the first bit of his adulthood.
-Jesus of Nazareth was known for his many miracles like being able to heal anyone of Impurity and perform exorcisms for many people which would cause rain to fall.
-Jesus' resurrection is very famous with many Christians today saying that he was capable of appearing and reappearing at will to his disciples

-The first part his life, Paul was part of the Pharisees religious party which they would commonly persecute Christians for their religion.
-He hated Jesus but he changed his mind when he received a vision from the Lord himself showing Paul his son which made him believe that Jesus was the true Messiah
-He would go on to found churches in Asia Minor and Europe preaching to people that Christianity was the true leader
-He set out on four missions to convince the Jews to switch to Christianity.

Nero "burned" Rome to the ground because he wanted to redo Rome's architecture. Rome burned for 6 days -Since someone needed to be blamed,Nero blamed the fire on the Christians because the Christian area of Rome wasn't burnt in the flames -Christians were murdered on mass and while Christian leaders tried to deny any involvement in the fire being started Romans persisted -Roman Christians predicted that Rome eventually burn in flames but it isn't clear is someone from the church set the fire.

-Perpetua was one of the first Christian women to become a martyr
-Perpetua and four of her friends, one a slave named Felicitas, were arrested for their beliefs in a time that being a Christian was deemed highly illegal by Roman law
-She refused to give up her Christianity because she saw visions of the Lord praising her for her strength
-Perpetua would be tried guilty so she and her slave were thrown into the gladiator arena to be chased and mauled by a leopard to then die by the sword.

-After Nero blamed Christians for the fire Christianity was outlawed.
-Christians were during Nero's reign thrown into gladiator tournaments to be used as "bait" and had their carcasses used as torches for Nero's garden
-Christians were also blamed for things like minor disasters like disease and drought and were killed for not refusing to give up their ways
-Christians suffered the worst when the Tetrarchy ordered Christians to slaughtered which led to thousands perishing but it Survived.

-Tensions in Rome were at there greatest before this battle in the Civil war
-The night before the Constantine had dreamed that God came to him and told him to put the cross on all of his soldier's shields
-Right before the battle he looked into the sky and had a vision within the clouds the words of, "In Hoc Signo Vinces" meaning "In this sign, you will conquer" was present
-Constantine's army won the battle which led to Constantine finally trusting God and Christianity as a whole a lot more

-After the battle of Milvian Constantine now was convinced that the lord was the only god in existence.
-A year after the Battle of Milvian he introduced the Edict of Milan which legalized Christianity and created freedom of Religion to any religion/belief system
-The Edict of Milan made it so things like organizing churches weren't illegal and gave more rights to Christians
-The edict was the first form of writing that stated religion was a right that people have and can't be taken away.

-Constantine was most famous for introducing the Edict of Milan but he was one of Rome's most successful generals.
-Constantine because of the Edict was made by Eusebius to become the 13th Apostle in Christianity
-The city of Constantinople was named after Constantine for his efforts. The city is mainly Christian dominate and celebrations are made in his name
-Constantine also got a triumphal arch erected after him with the words “inspiration of the Divinity” signifying his honor and genius

-The first bit of his life was spent as a military commander with his father to then become emperor and the first thing he did was raise tax prices to better the military
-Theodosius allowed open Christian baptism to then become a Christian himself
-During his reign, he tried to eliminate things like heretics and pagans with harsh force
-After 7,000 died in a chariot race, he was ordered to plea for forgiveness by God which he did bow down and became the first emperor to submit to the church
