After the death of Ivan and his mother, Peter now is sole ruler of Russia. He then set a goal of modernizing Russia and bringing it into the family of Europeans. -
Peter's Brother (Feodor III of Russia) Dies
Peter's half brother Feodor III dies. This allowed Peter to enact widespread reforms based on Western Models. -
"Great Embassy"
At the age of 24, Peter embarked on the "Grand Embassy" in which was his trip to Western Europe. A goal of Peter's was to learn about European customs and manufacturing techniques. This shows his thinking of how to improve Russia by learning these skills from different countries -
Army
Russia lacked in the Amy department. Peters accomplished being able to have the first standing Army in Russia -
Peter's implementation in Education
One of Peter's accomplishments was; he was the first Tsar of Russia to sponsor education on secular lines. Secular lines were open for children of soldiers, churchmen, and officials. This introduced books to them. This followed up with the creation of the Russian Alphabet and new schools. -
St. Petersburg
Another one of Peter's accomplishments; St. Petersburg. It became the the Russian Capital. -
Peter's gets Married
Peter marries Martha Skavronskaya. But, she switched to the Russian Orthodox Church and was named Catherine. Peter and Catherine went on to have a total of 11 children. -
Peter kills and tortures his Son
Alexei Petrovich (Peter's Son) was tortured and killed by his father (Peter). Alexei despised Peter -
Peter is Now Emperor!
Peter is now Emperor of all Russia. -
Peter The Great Dies
Peter The Great dies at 52. Cause of death was his body being very weak.
