The death of archduke Francis Ferdinand led America to join the war. America didn't fight at first; they just loaned money and sent resources to the Allied Powers. Once Germany found out that the U.S was aiding the Allied Powers, they sunk one of the U.S. supply ships. 128 Americans died on that ship. This really angered America and caused them to go against the Central Powers. -
The end of World War 1/Armistice Day
On October 17,1918, the Allied forces did their final push against Germany's border. While they were doing their final push the Central Powers began to collapse. Turkey signed an armistice at the end of October and Austria-Hungary followed on November 3. Without their sapport Germany quickly fell. On November 11, 1918, Germany sighned an armistice at a railroad car parked in a French forest near the front lines. -
The assassination of Austrian archduke, Francis Ferdinand.
On June 28th 1914, Austrian archduke, Francis Ferdinand and his wife were assassinated by Gravilo Princip. Francis Ferdinand also had a bomb thrown in his car by the group of assassins that were trying to kill him. Their bomb plan didn't work, because before the bomb exploded Francis picked it up and through it out the window. Later on that day Gravilo Princip saw Francis and his wife at a cafe and shot both of them.
