    In a Coup d'etat, Napoleon and two other leaders established themselves as the First Consul of France. Although they originally wanted equal power, Napoleon became the most powerful. Causes: Napoleon's military success allowed him to gain popularity and knowledge on how to gain power.
    Effects: set him up to be a powerhouse in France

    Napoleon proclaims himself emperor of France, and his rule begins.
    Causes: Him being apart of the first consul
    Effects: He is able to begin his military endeavors
