    This campaign helped end the French Revolutionary War. This gave Napoleon a name and he was very respected after this. (Green)

    Egyptian Campaign
    Napoleon originally went to Egypt to defend French trade interests and to make alliances. He thought it would be successful, but it ended poorly. (Red)

    Consulate
    The French wanted to create a secure and lasting government. This gave Napoleon most of the power. (Green)
  • Banque de France

    Napoleon creating a banking system gave them confidence in the system. It is still used to this day. (Green)
  • Concordat of 1801

    Through this Napoleon tried to reestablish Catholicism as the main religion of France. After this Napoleon’s popularity started to increase. (Green)

    Consul for Life
    Napoleon wanted a title, so he named himself the Consul for Life. During this he created a new French constitution. (Green)

    Napoleonic Code
    This gave France its first set of laws concerning property, the family, colonial affairs, and individual rights. The Napoleonic Code did undo some rights for women that were set during the Revolution. (Yellow)

    Napoleon decided to declare himself emperor. This helped France get back on their feet. (Green)

    The French and Spanish fought against the British in this naval engagement. The British Navy gained supremacy, but the French and Spanish had to surrender. (Red)

    A blockade was put up by the French to stop Great Britain from trading and French allies couldn’t trade with the British. This was good for France, but bad for Britain. (Green)

    Napoleon decided that he wanted to establish his own French-dominated empire. So he decided to put an end to the Holy Roman Empire. (Green)

    Resistance in Spain
    Spain betrayed the French monarch, so Napoleon sent troops to invade Spain. The French Army surprisingly lost and had to retreat in defeat. (Red)

    The French attempted to invade Russia (after failing to in Spain). They tried to cross the Neman River, but were caught and had to retreat. (Red)
  • Battle of Nations at Leipzig

    Battle of Nations at Leipzig
    Napoleon was suffering and his line of communication through Leipzig was threatened. After this French power in Germany and Poland was destroyed. (Red)
  • Waterloo

    Waterloo
    At Waterloo the French suffered defeat. Napoleon went in thinking he could defeat Belgium. This ended the Napoleonic era in Europe. (Red)
  • Hundred Days

    Hundred Days
    This was the period between Napoleon’s return from escaping exile and the fall of his reign. This lasted from March 1- July 7. (Red)

    The allies got together and signed the Abdication. This exiled Napoleon to Elba. (Red)
