    1000 B.C.- Assyrian Empire

  • Sep 3, 1300

    1300 B.C.- Assyrians control all of Mesopotamia

  • 1953 B.C.- Hammurabi's Dynasty Ends

    Hittites sack Babylon and end Hammurabi's dynasty.
  • 1753 B.C.- Hammurabi conquers Sumer

    Ammorite King Hammurabi (sound familiar?) conquers all of Sumer. Hammurabi rules to 1750. His empire lasts until 1600, when the Kassites conquer most of Mesopotamia.
  • 1800 B.C.- Kassites defeat Babylonians

  • 1950 B.C.- Elamites attack Sumer

    Elamites from Zagros attack Sumer. They overrun the Syrian Amorites.
    Amorites go to Babylon to create colonies with Ashur as center of a kingdom that will be called Assyria.

  • Sumer regains independence from the akkadian empire

    After being revived from also being overrun by the Gutians, Sumer regains independence now that the Akkadian empire is gone.
  • 2230 B.C.- Akkadian rule ends

    The Akkadian dynasty(empire) is destroyed by the Gutian dynasty.
  • 2340 B.C- Sargon forms the Akkadian Empire

    Sargon takes over numerous sumerian places and builds the Akkadian Empire. This is considered one of the first empires in history.
  • 3800 B.C. Sumerians build citys

    The sumerians supplant, or replace, the Ubaidians and buil cities. These are believed to be the first historical city-states.
  • 4000 B.C. Sumerians arrive in mesopotamia
