Valley City High School
On January 12th, 2019, I competed at the first meet of the season.
I did three events and finaled in two of them. I got 6th Place in Poetry and 8th in Extemp. This meet I competed in Impromtu for the first time, and absolutely hated it. And with a passion. It definitely was a new and uncomfortable challenge for me, but one that came with many rewards later on. -
Carrington
On January 26th, 2019, I competed in two events, my two draw events Extemp and Impromptu. I finaled in both of them and ended up 'Sailing away' with 4th place in Impromptu and 6th place in Extemp. I improved myself so much in impromptu, everyone was so surprised, and I was surprised with myself! I went from not finagling, and quite frankly, failing, to placing top 4! -
Devils Lake
On February 2nd, 2019, I competed and the Devils Lake Invitational. I competed all four of my events this meet and finaled in all of them. For my Interps, I walked away with a championship, or first place in poetry, and in Dramatic 5th place. in my draw events this tournament, I placed 2nd in Extemp and 4th in impromptu. A great, and successful meet for me and my wonderful team. -
Saint Mary's High School
On February 9th, 2019, I competed in three events, Dramatic, Impromtu, and Extemp. This Bismark tournament I finaled and placed in one event. I got a shiny new trophy labeled 5th place in dramatic interpretation. This was a HUGE meet, and is quite an honor placing that high in DI! -
Litcheville-Marion
On February 16th, 2019, I traveled far and wide to litcheville-marion to compete with style. I brought all four of my events this meet and finaled in all of them. For both my Interp events i brought home the gold by being Dramatic and Poetry Champion. Finally, I finished 4th place in Extemp and 3rd place in Impromtu, to wrap up my draw events. This meet was especially fun, but I had absolutely no time to eat, which sucked. -
West Fargo Sheyenne
On February 23rd, of 2019, I traveled far and wide to West Fargo, specifically to Sheyenne High School to compete all four events. I finaled in both my interp events, achieving the following final places: Poetry- 3rd Place and Dramatic- 2nd Place. This meet was especially rewarding because my best friend finaled in prose, I was so proud! -
Grand Forks
On March 2nd of 2019, I rode the beloved speech bus to what we call the 'T-shirt' meet, where our trophies are T-Shirts. This meet I competed in all four of my events, and ended up finaling in three! My final results were Dramatic and Poetry, First Place, or Champion, Impromtu, 3rd place. I also got a superior speaker award in Extemp, meaning i was the next one into finals, roughly 9th place. The shirts are quite popular every year! -
Valley City State University
The Unfortunate Rescheduling then eventual Cancellation was a disappointment for most all competitors. Our coaches worked so hard setting up this tournament, just for the wonderful weather of North Dakota to ruin it for us. I had no idea what to do with myself on a Saturday! I slept: all day. -
West Fargo High School
On March 16th, 2019, It was time for the repetitive Fargo meets to begin! This meet I did a new event, that i'd never done before, it goes by the name, Serious Duo. Olivia Slyter and I threw together a performance that was very hard hitting. Serious Duo replaced Poetry, so I still had four events. I Finaled in Dramatic, and surprisingly Duo! I ended up getting 3rd place in both! -
Fargo Davies
On March 23rd, of 2019, I once again travelled to the extravagant Fargo, ND on an early Saturday morning to talk about politics and to be overly dramatic all over again. This meet I competed in four events once again; Dramatic, Serious Duo, Poetry, and Extemp. I finaled in only two. Getting 4th place in Poetry and 1st place in serious duo with Olivia! -
Fargo North
For the final regular speech meet of the season, on March 30th, of 2019, I found myself doing my makeup once again, at 4 a.m.. This tournament I brought my normal four events (DI, PO, IX, EXP). I finaled in two out of the four. I got First in Dramatic, and Fifth in Impromptu. Since it was a larger meet, they also recognized other speakers who tied or were close to getting into finals. I got two of these awards. In Poetry, superior ribbon (10-12th Place) and In Extemp, Superior medal (9th place).
