    Communist International
    The Communist International or the Comintern. It wanted a revolution in every country across the world. The Comintern was founded on March 2, 1919, in the Soviet Union. There were three different views about this the "right" wing, the center, and the "left" wing. This caused tension because it angered some countries and they disagreed with their views.
  • Versailles Treaty

    Versailles Treaty
    The Treaty of Versailles was signed by all the countries involved in World War 1 on June 28th, 1919 in Versailles, France. The treaty stated how much money Germany had to pay for the war damage and the new borders of Germany. The French wanted to completely cripple Germany and the U.S wanted to keep the peace. This treaty angered many German citizens.

    The League of Nations was proposed by President Woodrow Wilson during the meeting to make a treaty. The league was made up of countries all around the world. It was a group of countries used to maintain peace and keep the balance of power. This made many countries required to follow the rules of the league.

    Mussolini took power in the parliament in 1921. In October 1922 the march on Rome began. Mussolini threatened to force power to be taken from the government and he was successful Mussolini was now the prime minister of Italy and soon made the whole of Italy fascist. He did this so the government could get under control after World War 1. This later lead to people trying to get Mussolini out of the government during World War 2.

    Hopeful Years

    Some things that helped between 1924 and 1929 were the Dawes and Young Plan. These were used to so Germany would not completely run out of money. The Dawes Plan lowered the amount needed to pay reparations and slowly rose it as the German economy rose. The Young Plan lowered the reparations from 132 billion marks to 121 billion marks.

    Stalin In Power in Russia
    Stalin was the secretary of the Soviet Union under Lenin. After Lenin died he battled the other parties and rose to the top as dictator of the Soviet Union in 1926. After he came to power he made lots of changes all reflecting the Communist ideology and with these, he increased the economy of the Soviet Union. This caused tension because many countries disliked Stalin's ideology.

    The Great Depression lasted from 1929 to 1939. It was the biggest economic downturn in history. In 1933 15 million Americans were unemployed and half of the banks failed. The Day of October 10th, 1929 was known as Black Tuesday and that is when the Stock Market crashed in the United States. The Stock Market crashed due to many people purchasing stock.

    Japan Invades Manchuria
    The Japanese had an over spilling population and need more land. they had a low opinion of China and they believed Manchuria had lots of resources so this was the perfect opportunity. The government lost control of the army and the army invaded Manchuria on September 19th, 1931. The League did not do anything because they feared Japan would attack them.

    Third Reich
    The Third Reich is the successor to the Second Reich and it was established by Nazi Germany's dictator Adolf Hitler on January 30th, 1933. Hitler took power and put Nazi supporters next to him in the government. Hitler's hope was to make the German empire greater than the Holy Roman Empire. This ultimately leads to World War 2 due to Hitler putting his beliefs to use.

    Germany starts to go at it alone
    On October 14th, 1933 Adolf Hitler announces that Nazi Germany is withdrawing from the League of Nations. Germany left the league due to the league making a rule that limits the size of their armies and Nazi Germany disliked that and all the other rules so they left the league.
