    Sevilla won their first official trophy, the 'Copa de Ayuntamiento de Sevilla' in 1913. The Federation created the first official regional championship, the 'Copa de Andalucía', of which 23 editions between 1916 and 1940 were played. Sevilla won 16 times and 2 were runner-up. Moreover, in the Copa del Rey their best participation was in 1921, when the team reached the semifinals.

    The league competition was created in the 1928/29 season, the Spanish Federation agreed that ten teams should compose the First Division: the six who had won so far the Spanish Cup, the three who had been runners without actually winning the championship and one that would come out of a playoff between the other teams. They reached the final of the qualifying Sevilla and Racing Santander, disputing two matches. Racing won, so Sevilla had to played in the Second Division.

The 1967-1968 season they got relegated to the Second Division after spending 31 seasons in First. But the following year they finished second, ascending again. A little later they had another crisis, even in 1972/73 they got relegated again to Second Division.

    In May 2002, resigned as president Roberto Ales and again assumed the presidency the Seville lawyer José María del Nido, the decisions of Caparros as coach and Monchi as a sporting director were confirm. Under the tutelage of both for four seasons the club fighted to stay in the First Division, going to more and the target of achieving the participation in European competitions, which came after the 6th place in the 2003/04 season.
