Foundation
Its foundation dates from 1890. They got register to fit the current regulations, on the 14th of October 1905. During its first years of existence, charity matches were played against teams of British sailors anchored in the port of Seville. The Club had no fixed place to play. -

First years

First official trophy
Sevilla won their first official trophy, the 'Copa de Ayuntamiento de Sevilla' in 1913. The Federation created the first official regional championship, the 'Copa de Andalucía', of which 23 editions between 1916 and 1940 were played. Sevilla won 16 times and 2 were runner-up. Moreover, in the Copa del Rey their best participation was in 1921, when the team reached the semifinals. -
Nervión Stadium
The 7th of October 1928 is inaugurated what would be the penultimate stadium of Sevilla: Nervión Stadium, where they played their first match in the League. -
Second Division
The league competition was created in the 1928/29 season, the Spanish Federation agreed that ten teams should compose the First Division: the six who had won so far the Spanish Cup, the three who had been runners without actually winning the championship and one that would come out of a playoff between the other teams. They reached the final of the qualifying Sevilla and Racing Santander, disputing two matches. Racing won, so Sevilla had to played in the Second Division. -
First derby
In Second Division was the first time were the league derby between Sevilla and Betis was played, which was won by Betis (1-2). -
Reaching the Third Division
In the 1932/33 season Sevilla nearly got relegated to Third Division, being second-to-last in the Second Division championship. -

First Division
February the 18th of 1934, Sevilla got promoted to the First Division after beating Atletico Madrid in last match of the championship and finished first. However, during the 1935/36 season Sevilla nearly got relegated as they ended up third from the last (only got relegated the two last teams). -
First trophy nationwide
The following season Sevilla won the 'Copa del Presidente', the first trophy nationwide that we can find on their record book. Is what we now know as 'Copa del Rey'. They beated Sabadell FC 0-3. -
League title and two Copa del Rey
The decade after the Civil War would be one of the most fruitful for Sevilla: a league, a league runner-up and two Copa del Rey. -
Third Copa del Rey
In 1948 they were proclaimed winers of the Spanish cup for the third time in its history. In 1950/51, with Campanal coaching, Sevilla was runner of the League behind Atletico de Madrid. C. F. Sevilla managed to be 5th in the league in 1953/54, 4th in the 1954/55 and 1955/56 seasons and 2nd in 1956/57. -
European competitions
The 1956/57 season, the team managed to be the league runner-up which allowed them to participate for the first time in the European Cup. The following season experienced a stark contrast. While in the league they were about to get relegated, got save on the final day, in the European Cup they reached the quarter-finals. -
Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium
In 1954, they want to build a new stadium. The October 28, 1956 the President Sánchez-Pizjuán died suddenly. The appreciation of the fans by their president, under whose presidency Sevilla had won three cups of Spain, made them decide that the new stadium that was going to be build will have his name. -
Second Division
In the 1960s, Sevilla suffered an economic crisis due to the debts incurred to build the new stadium, which is why they were forced to sell their best players. The 1967-1968 season they got relegated to the Second Division after spending 31 seasons in First. But the following year they finished second, ascending again. A little later they had another crisis, even in 1972/73 they got relegated again to Second Division. -
Promotion to First Division
In the 1974/75 season, with Roque Olsen as a coach, the club got promoted to the First Division and settled in a long period of stability in this category. -
UEFA Cup participation
In the 1981-1982 and 1982-1983 seasons, the team participated in two consecutive editions of the UEFA Cup. -
World Cup in the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuan
In 1982, the World Cup was celebrated in Spain and the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán stadium was one of the main venues, the stadium underwent a major renovation and a large mural, designed by Cordovan painter Santiago del Campo was placed. -
UEFA Cup participation
In the 1989/90 season, with Vicente Cantatore in the bench, the club secured a new participation in the UEFA Cup. In the following seasons, Luis Aragones as a coach returned the team to qualify for the UEFA Cup (1994/95). -
Relegation to 2ºB
That same year entered into force a law, which required the teams to pay a number of debts, Sevilla and Celta de Vigo could not fulfill such terms, so were administratively relegated to Second Division B. -
1st and 2nd Division
In 1997 Rafael Carrión became president, until the year 2000. In the 1996/97 season Sevilla got relegated to Second Division, where they remained there for two years, with then rise in 1998/99. The situation of the club was very delicate because the team had fallen back to Second Division (2000/01) -

Great last 13 years
In May 2002, resigned as president Roberto Ales and again assumed the presidency the Seville lawyer José María del Nido, the decisions of Caparros as coach and Monchi as a sporting director were confirm. Under the tutelage of both for four seasons the club fighted to stay in the First Division, going to more and the target of achieving the participation in European competitions, which came after the 6th place in the 2003/04 season. -
First European title
The 2005/06 season opens with a new coach Juande Ramos, that season would be marked by the celebrations due to the centenary of the club and for the achievement of a first European title by winning the UEFA Cup. -
UEFA Super Cup
The 2006/07 season was arguably the most successful season in their history, it started with winning the UEFA Super Cup by beating FC Barcelona 3-0. -
Second UEFA Cup title
Then, they won its second consecutive UEFA Cup in a final in Glasgow against RCD Espanyol. -
Copa del Rey
Sevilla managed to also win the Spanish Cup and finished 3rd in the league. -
Spanish Super Cup
The 2007/08 season opened with a fifth title, the Supercopa the España. After the departure of Juande Ramos, Manolo Jimenez became the new coach. The club took first place in the group stage of the Champions League -
Copa del Rey
In the 2009/10 season they won the Copa del Rey again and achieve qualification for the Champions League. -
Third and fourth UEFA Cup
In the season 2013-14 they won their third UEFA Cup. The team finished 5th, and retained the title of champions of the Europa League being also the first team of winning it two consecutive times and becoming the most successful team in this competition with 4 titles. With this they certified their direct access to the group stage of the UEFA Champions League 2015/16.
