Roman Rule of Israel

63 BCE

Roman first conquered Judea. The Jews were highly affected by this they had to pay tribute to the Romans. The Jews , refused to stop practicing their religion so the Romans allowed them to keep practicing them if they followed Roman laws. This rule over Israel ended in 313.

Jesus of Nazareth

1 BCE

Jesus was one of the first leader for the religion. He did many thing in earth like healing people and doing the impossible. He was crucified around 34 A.D

Paul of Tarsus

At the beginning Paul was against the belief of Christianity. After a trip it changed his mind. Soon he started believing that god sent him to convert non Jews. He started spreading Christianity through out eastern Mediterranean.

Great Fire of Rome

Emperor Nero was thought too but fire to Rome to rebuild it the way he wanted too. He was tough to mentally unstable. The fire burnt 2/3 of the the city and lasted 6 days. The Christians were blamed for this due to the part they lived wasn't touched.

Perpetua

She was a nobleman arrested because he was a Christian. She was arrested with her slaves and were thrown to the beasts. They failed to kill them so soldiers had to come in and finish the job.

The Great Persecution

The Emperor created a persecution against all Christians. They decided to persecute them because they believed to reunite the kingdom everyone had to have the same beliefs and gods. Many Christians were killed it ended in 311.

Constantine the Great

This emperor tried to bring control to Rome and fought another emperor named Maxentius. Before a massive battle he claims that he saw something in the clouds and in his dream. He put a symbol on his shield and says it was the only reason why he won the fight.

The Battle of Milvian Bridge

It was a battle between the two emperors for Rome. It was a little before this battle were Constantine had vision. He took it as a sign from god and it would help win the battle. He won the battle and become the only Emperor.

Edict Of Milan

After his win in the battle of Milvian Bridge Constantine gave permission to all Christians to practice their beliefs. The edict of Milan helped Christianity spread fast and by 500 BC it was the main religion in Rome.

Emperor Theodosius

Emperor Theodosius ruled for around 20 years and outlawed all the public non-Christian sacrifices in 391. He withdrew the states support on all the other religions.
