  • Proclamation Line of 1763

    Created a line along the Appalachian Mts. that prohibited the colonists from colonizing the new British land from the French & Indian war. Prevented land being given to Quebec.
  • Sugar Act

    An attempt to decrease taxes on molasses to create money for the British government. They did this in order to collect the money easily and expand enforcement.
  • Stamp Act

    A way for the British government to get money by imposing the use of stamps on newspapers and legal documents.
  • Quartering Acts

    British troops were permanently stationed in colonies. Colonies had to provide necessities to them.
  • Declaratory Act

    Stamp Act repealed. Parliament claims it can still use its other acts to tax colonies.
  • Townshend Revenue Act

    Created by Charles Townshend-responsible for raising money. Taxes imposed glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea to get revenue from colonists
  • Boston Massacre

    Colonists were mad about the arrival of British troops in the colonies so they harassed some of them. The troops fired and killed 5 people because one was knocked down.
  • Tea Act

    Allowed the East India Company to sell their tea directly to the colonists because of their control of the trade. The East India Company was falling apart, so Parliament granted them this act.
    The colonists opposed this because the company was getting money from the taxes they payed.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Colonists dressed up as indians and threw the tea into the water because of their deep opposition. Parliament responded with strict rules that eventually led to the Revolution.
  • Quebec Act

    Gave French people that migrated to Quebec more rights. It was also supposed to help out the government in Quebec.
  • Battle of Lexington & Concord

    Sparked the Revolutionary War.Tensions had been growing in the colonies because of the British trying to suppress them
