    The French and Indian War

    This is known as the "Seven Years' War". British won and attained most of the French land in North America. In result to this war, Britain decided to tax colonists inorder to pay for the war.
  • Treaty of Paris 1763

    Treaty of Paris 1763
    This ended the French and Indian war and gave Britain most of the land the French owned in North America.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    British issued this act. It prohibited the colonists from settling west from the Appalachians.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    Although this act lowered taxes on imported molasses, the level of enforcement the British had towards the colonists.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    The Intolerable Acts were different acts put together. These acts basically closed the harbor, General Gage became Governer, the "Quartering Acts" were passed and it suspended charter.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    This act required that all legal documents in the colonies require a tax stamp that can only be bought from official tax collectors.

    Declaratory Act
    This stated that the Parliament had full authority over the colonists to make laws in the colonies.
  • Townshend Duties

    Townshend Duties
    Placed taxes on the import of glass, lead, paint, paper and tea. Because of this act, it led to the Boston Massacre.
  • Boston Mssacre

    Boston Mssacre
    British soldiers shot 5 colonists because they were harassing the officers. In conclusion, the soldiers were not charged for shoothing the 5 colonists.

    This act made American colonists only purchase tea from the East India Company. Even though this lowered prices for the tea, the colonists saw it as "taxation without representation" because they were not allowed to buy tea from different merchants.

    Boston Tea Party
    Colonists dumped tea over the British ships into the Boston Harbor. They were very much intoxicated and were dressed as indians.

    Lexington and Concord
    General Gage lead raids to the stockpiles of weapons the British had. Basically, this was the beginning of the American Revolution.

    The war began with the battle in Lexington and Concord that was led by General Gage, and it ended because of the second Treaty of Paris in 1783.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    British won this battle against the colonists. The British were led by General Howe while the colonists were led by General Gage. Although this was a defeat against the US, it is seen as a heroic stand against forces of oppression.

    This peition basically tried to avoid a war with Britian. Even though the peition declared American loyalty to the king, it was rejected.

    This was written by Thomas Paine. It challenged the authority of the British Government and the royal monarchy.
  • Siege of Boston

    Siege of Boston
    The Siege of Boston started from the 19th of April in 1775 and ended on the 17th of March in 1776. The New England militiamen, surrounded the town of Boston, Massachusetts so they could prevent the British troops from invading the colonies. The colonies, with the help of Washington, eventually made the British leave the town.

    The Declaration of Independence basically stated that the thirteen colonies were to be free and independent. They were no longer part of Britain. This was sent by the Continental Congress to the King.

    This battle lasted from the 27th of August until the 7th of December. The British won with the help of General Howe.

    Battle of Trenton
    Colonists win this battle with the help of Washington. He sends a surprise attack to the Hessian soldiers.

    Battle of Saratoga
    This battle started on the 7th of September and ended on the 19th of October. The colonists won this battle, and they were led by Horatio Gates and Benedict Arnold.
  • Battle of Germantown

    Battle of Germantown
    Howe, who was the British General, defeated Washington, and it was also Washington's first offensive battle.

    Articles of Confederation created
    This was an agreement among the thirteen colonies that established the US as a confederation of sovereign states . This served as its first constitution.

    Valley Forge was the military camp for the Continental Army. The weather was very harsh here, and the army had little supplies to provide them during war.
  • Battle of Charlestown

    This was won by the British. Benjamin and Lincoln both surrender to Henry Clinton.

    Horatio Gates, who was the US General, loses to Cornwallis, who was the British General. This made US change their strategy while fighting in the South and hardens resolve to fight.

    Battle of Yorktown
    This battle lasted from the 6th until the 19th of October. The colonists won with the help of Washington, Lafayette and the French navy. They force Cornwallis to surrender.

    This was the second Treaty of Paris. It ended the American Revolution between Britain and the colonies. The treaty basically allowed the colonists to be independent from Britain.
