    Size of a pin head, egg attaches to lining of uterus, brain & spinal cord develop, heart begins to beat.
  • Month 2

    Month 2
    About 1/4 inch long, face, eyes, ears, & limbs begin to shape, bones begin to form
  • Month 3

    Month 3
    About 1 inch long, nostrils, mouth, & eyelids form, buds for baby teeth appear, fingers & toes are almost complete, organs present but not fully grown

    About 3 inches long & weighs about 1 ounce, the baby can suck its thumb, swallow, hiccup, and move around, facial features become more clear
  • Month 5

    About 6 1/2 to 7 inches long and weighs 4 to 5 ounces, hair, eyelashes, and eyebrows appear, teeth continue to develop, organs continue to grow, and becomes more active

    About 8 to 10 inches long and weighs about 8 to 12 ounces, fat deposits under skin but the fetus appears wrinkled, baby begins to breathe

    About 10 to 12 inches long and weighs about 1 1/2 pounds, has active periods followed by rest and quiet

    About 14 to 1 inches long and weighs 2 1/2 to 3 pounds, rapid weight gain, may react to loud noises, moves in to a head down position

    About 17 to 18 inches long, weighs 5 to 6 pounds, continues weight gain, skin becomes smooth, movements decrease due to less room, gets disease fighting antibodies from the mother's blood, descends into pelvis ready for birth
