    United Nations
    The five countries involved in the United Nations were the United States, England, France, Russia, and China. It was a peace organization in New York City in 1945 at the Yalta conference. The United Nations affected society by solving disputes, solving diseases and hunger problems, education has improved, and it provided vaccines. The event was important because it helped people back then and it is still a peace organization today.
  • Brown vs. Board of Education

    Brown vs. Board of Education
    Oliver Brown went to the Supreme Court with Thurgood Marshall. Oliver asked the local school board to let his daughter go to an all-white school because it was more convenient. In Topeka, Kansas in 1954 is when they went in and said how it violated the 14th amendment. The event was very important because it overturned the Plessy v. Ferguson case. Brown vs. Board of Education impacted society because the supreme court desegregated all schools and it is still an impact in today's society.

    Berlin Wall
    In West Berlin, there were 3 million east Berliners. The East German soldiers built a wall 69 1/2 miles long. It was made out of concrete & barbed wire. The German soldiers started building the wall in August 1961. All of East Berliners that tried to escape got shot by the border guards. The event was important because it is a symbol of the Cold War. It is important because it fell in 1989. The Berlin Wall impacted politics because the Soviet Zone blocked off East Berlin which is communism.
  • Kent State

    Kent State
    The Kent State Massacre happened on May 4, 1970, at the Ohio school. The kids at school protested after Nixon’s pledge to send troops to Cambodia. The police were bayonetting and clubbing student protestors. The National Guardsmen were killed and 9 were wounded. 25 students and professors were found guilty. The society was affected because people were getting harmed and the National Guard was not blamed for the massacre.

    Jimmy Carter was president from 1976 to 1980. Jimmy Carter was a Democrat and he was a governor of Georgia prior to being president. He was a millionaire peanut farmer and attended segregated schools. He is important because he passed the social security act and he signed the Camp David accords with Egypt and Israel. Jimmy Carter made an impact on society because it was an agreement to help with security and global issues.

    George W. Bush
    George W. Bush was the United States president from 2000-2008. He was a Republican and prior to that the governor of Texas. He was ahead male cheerleader. He also took 900 vacation days during his terms. He was important because Saddam Hussein was executed. He also wrote the no child left behind act. The biggest event that happened while George W. Bush was September 11, 2001. This impacted society because 184 died in the Pentagon, 2,753 died in the world trade center, and 40 in Pennsylvania.
