    Joe McCarthy's career
    McCarthy was elected in to the senate in 1946 and was under the radar with housing legislation and sugar rationing, that all changed when people feared that communist inflitrated the US government, when that came around McCarthy used that fear to get reelected by saying he had around 205 communist who infiltrated the US government, despite having little knowledge of internal espionage.     Korean War

    The war was about spreading communism to the south of the 38th paralle and the South didn't like that they were trying to spread communism to the south and the US stepped in to help South korea win the war but after a couple years of fighting there was a stale mate on the 38th paralle and the war ended with an armistice.

    President Eisenhower strengthened the social security program, increased the minimum wage and created the department of health, education and welfare. He also created the interstate highway system which created 41,000 miles of road across the country.

    The US detonated the frist thermonuclear bomb on Eniwetok atoll in the pacific. the test gave the US the advantage in nuclear weaponry but then the USSR detonated an atomic bomb of there own so the US had to increase their atomic weaponry by researching newer ways or stronger atomic bombs.

    The Soviets have tested their H-bomb to show the US that they are back in the Nuclear arms race to show that they can use nuclear weapons to and aren't afraid to use them.

    this uprising lasted only 19 days, this orignally was a student protest but until one student died in a protest it started the uprising and many people stood to fight against the government and the government fell and groups of people began forming militias and a new government was made it allowed free voting elections and the soviets fought back and reclaimed Hungary and the uprising fell and the soviets won.

    Was the first satellite and was used to study the earth and the solar system and after a while Sputnik ended up burning up in the atmosphere then the Soviets then launched more satellites to keep studying.

    Khrushchev began De-Stalinization by undoing anything Stalin did in his time by turing the USSR into a peacful coexistance. then he put a halt on the Hungary uprising only with a few casulties and also built the berlin wall, also he was know for his colorful speeches.

    The U2 spy plane was a aircraft that was a survailence plane for the CIA and was shot down by the soviets but President Eisenhower told the public that it was a weather plane that was blown off course but then later told the public it was a spy plane. after the plane crashed the pilot was captured and he was then traded for a soviet spy.
