Theodore Roosevelt
Theodore Roosevelt became president in 1901. He did not win an election, but was next in line when president McKinley was assisnated. Although he had a few "critics", a lot of people liked him as president. He solved lots of problems while he was president like the Pure Food and Drug Act and The Square Deal. He was a very smart and strong person. Theodore Roosevelt graduated from Harvard,spoke many languages and was a great writer. He was very wealthy and also a cowboy/outdoors man. -
The Election of 1912
There were two candidates running for president Taft for the republicans and Wilson for democratic. Now Theodore Roosevelt was mad and made his own party which was later called the Bull Moose party. Now since Theodore Roosevelt made hos own party the Republicans split. There were some Republicans on Theodore Roosevelt's party and some stayed on the Republican party with Taft. since the party split thee weren't enough votes for either one so Wilson won the election. -
The Start of the war
Archduke Francis Ferdinand of Austria-Hungry was shot by an assassin that was encouraged by Germany. then Austria-Hungry declared war on Serbia. Then Russia came to the aid of Serbia. Then that led to the allies of the countries fighting come into the war. later the teams switch up the Allies were Britain, France, Russia, Italy, and later the United States. The Central powers were Germany, Austria-Hungry, Turkey, and Bulgaria. -
When America Joined the War
On April 2nd 1917 President Wilson declared war on Germany. America joined the war because of Propaganda, trading with the Allies and the sinking of the Lusitania. We weren't ready for the war we had to get more men and money. So people went to work on making weapons for the war. we had victory gardens for food and we had fundraisers in every town. When we went to Europe we were supposed to replace Britain's army but we decided to be our own army in the war. Then we fought with the Allies. -
Armistice day
Armistice day better known as veterans day is a holiday in the
Untied States celebrating the WWI Veterans. This was the day Germany agreed to stop the fighting. America lost 115,000 men and had 200,000 wounded in the war. they believed they had fought for Noble deeds. -

During this time the faith in God was declining, people started turning to agnosticism, Liberalism, or Darwinism. Still there are some believers in the Bible, those people started up interdemonational places. Like the YMCA and the Salvation Army. entertainment was amusement parks, sports, and plays. Progressivism was very big during this time. These people tried to make the quality of life better. they got help for the government to reach their goals.
