    Augusto Pinochet was born on November 25, 1915. Augusto was born in Valparaiso, Chile. His real name is Augusto Pinochet Ugarte.

    On November 25, 1915 Augusto was named head of the victorious Junta’s council. After about three years of running the council they had arrested about 130,000 people. Many of them were tortured. Augusto was head of the council till the day he died.

    As a graduate of a military academy in Santiago Augusto, Pinochet was chosen by the current president Allende to be army commander. He was chosen about 18 days before the coup in 1936 that he successfully planned and lead.

    Pinochet’s presidency.

    In 2000 Pinochet had his immunity of prosecution removed from him. Which he had enjoyed as president, after he was forced out of presidency he was put on trial on charges of humans rights.

    The charges were dropped in 2002 after Chile’s Supreme Court upheld a ruling that he was mentally incapable of defending himself in court.

    In 2004 national commission on political imprisonment made sure that Pinochet’s government killed at least 3,197 people and tortured about 35,000 people so he could stand on trial.

    In 2006 he died before he could stand on trial for any of his many horrible crimes.

    Augusto died December 10, 2006 due to heart failure. He died at the age of 91.
