    French and Indian War
    The French and Indian War was fought over who got control over the Ohio River Valley. This war was mainly fought on American soil and included the French, British and Native Americans. I picked this event because this event lead to the American Revolutionary War because of disputes over war expenses.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre started out as a small fight between an American colonist and a British soldier but it quickly became out of hand which caused 5 people to die. American colonists and British soldiers were apart of this event. I chose this event because it helpped unite American Colonists and is one of the factors that lead to the Revolutionary War.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party occurred at Griffin's Wharf in Boston. The Boston Tea Party was the result of American colonists getting sick of the British imposing taxes without the Colonist's consent. So some American colonists dumped 342 chests of British tea into the harbor. I chose this event because it caused the Intolerable Acts to be imposed on the Colonies.

    1st Continental Congress
    Delegates from all 13 colonies except Georgia, gathered in Carpenter's hall in Philadelphia and discussed forms of government for the colonies. The congress also included George Washington and many others. I chose this event because it was the 1st example of the Colonies separating from Britain and setting up their own government.

    Being sick and tired of the King's Tyranny the Colonies finally declared war on Great Britain and demanded their freedom. I chose this event because it is what kicked off the colonies gaining their freedom.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    A committee of 5 men including Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin and John Adams wrote the document. The document has a list of grievances about the King's tyranny and includes enlightenment ideas and rights. The Declaration was signed in Independence Hall in Philadelphia. I chose this event because it contains the 1st ideas and goals for the country.

    1st American Flag
    Betsy Ross created the 1st flag for the Colonies and Congress approved it. I chose this event because it shows that America is not a British Colony and is breaking away from the motherland.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris
    Finally the King recognized America's independence and signed the Treaty of Paris in Paris France. This Treaty ended the American Revolutionary War. I chose this event because it ended the war and gave the Colonies their independence.
  • Constitutional Convention

    Constitutional Convention
    Delegates including George Washington and James Madison to name a few. Got together in Philadelphia and addressed problems that were under the Articles of Confederation. The Constitution was a product of this convention. I chose this event because it helped set up the basis for the government.
  • George Washington elected President

    George Washington elected President
    George Washington was elected President and he won by a landslide but his runner up John Adams got to be his Vice President and won the nest election. I chose this event because it shows that the democracy is working in the colonies.
  • Bill of Rights Ratified

    Bill of Rights Ratified
    The Bill of Rights were written by James Madison and are the 1st 10 amendments that list that ensures natural rights and liberties. Virginia became the 10th state to approve them and caused them to become ratified. I chose this event because it shows the enlightenment idea that everyone is born with natural rights.

    The States bought 828,000,000 square miles of land from France, the purchase occurred under Thomas Jefferson's presidency. Which helped the nation to expand its boarders and explore the lands natural wonders. I chose this event because it showed that America was expanding its boarders.
  • Lewis and Clark Expedition

    Lewis and Clark Expedition
    Meriwether Lewis and William Clark were tasked by Thomas Jefferson to travel west and explore the unknown. The expedition lasted 2 years. I chose this event because it showed that America wanted to expand into the West.
  • War of 1812

    War of 1812
    The War of 1812 was started by trade restrictions and the urge to expand west. The war was mainly between the Americans and the British. I chose this event because it showed that America could still whole their own.
  • Star Spangled Banger created

    Star Spangled Banger created
    Francis Scott Key wrote the Star Spangled Banner while in Fort McHenry during an attack. The fort is in Maryland and he wrote the song during the War of 1812. I chose this event because it shows the creation of America's national anthem.
  • Monroe Doctrine

    Monroe Doctrine
    President James Monroe created this document that states that the United States will not tolerate anymore European colonization or and puppet governments. I chose this event because it shows that the U,S is fed up with European colonization.
  • The Alamo

    The Alamo
    In modern day San Antonio Texas, The Alamo was ambushed by Mexican forces. But Davy Crockett held out the fort for 13 days until he surrendered. I chose this event because the Alamo is a symbol of heroic resistance and bravery.
  • Lincoln is elected President

    Lincoln is elected President
    Abraham Lincoln was elected President on November 6th, 1860. He was the 1st Republican to win and he only got 40% of the popular vote. I chose this event because it lead to the start of the Civil War.

    One of the main reasons the Civil War started was of the South's need for slavery, their economy depended on it. Another reasons was because the South wanted to expand westward and Lincoln's election also caused the 7 states to secede. I chose this event because it brought up the ideas of natural rights or the lack there of for the slaves.
  • Lincoln is assassinated

    Lincoln is assassinated
    John Wilkes Booth shot the President while he was watching a play at Ford's Theater in Washington D.C. Booth was hoping to help the South win the war but just five days later the South surrendered. I chose this event because it was the death of one of America's most famous president.
