  • Founding of Jamestown

    Founding of Jamestown
    On May 14,1607 a group called the virgina company Founded Jamestown. In the first few years disease and conflicts with the local native american tribes brought Jamestown into falier. In 1610 a new group of settlers came and brought supplies. In the1620s, Jamestown expanded into a new town built in the east. It remained the capital of the virgina colony until 1699.The founding of Jamestown is important because it was Americas first permenant english colony.

    The American Revolution (1775-83) is also known as the American Revolutionary War and the U.S. War of Independence.
    France entered the American Revolution on the side of the colonists in 1778, turning what had essentially been a civil war into an international conflict. The Americans had won their independence, fighting would not formally end until 1783. It's important because it led to the independence of the United States.

    The Signing of the Declaration of Independence
    On July 4th, 1776, the 13 American colonies declared their independence from Great Britain. Thomas Jefferson was the one that drafted the Declaratoinon of Independence. It was established because the American colonies didn't like being ruled by the British government and being taxed with out any say in it. It's important because it declared that the thirteen colonies of North America were free and independent from British control.

     Ratification of the United States Constitution
    The ratification process started when the Congress turned the Constitution over to the state legislatures.There were 9 out of 13 states needed to accept it yet. The first state to ratify the Constitution was Delaware, followed by Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia and Connecticut.This is important beacause The constitution allows us to be protected by its amendments from each other and most importantly from the government. Without the constitution being reatified, we would not have freedom.

    Soccer was invented in 1800. Some People call soccer FootBall.The game is played on a rectangular field with a goal at each end.There are many positions. There is goali, mid, forward, and defense. I mainly play Goalie in soccer. The reason why it's important and why I would want to take a time machine back to when soccer started is beacause soccer is part of my life. I have been playing soccer since I was in preschool.

    Pit Bulls were brought to the U.S. in the mid1800's.The Pit Bull represented the US in WW1.Today Pit Bulls are mis-understood. People think Pit Bulls are mean and kill people. But that's not true.The reason some pit bulls are viscious is becasue they are trained that way or their owner is not taking care of them.This is important becasue people are mis- undrestanding what a true pit bull is.I would love to take a time machine back to that event becasue I would want to learn more about Pit Bulls.

    In 1802, there was a war against spain and france.Jefferson offered to buy New Orleans from france becasue he wanted to avoid hostilities. France also offferd to buy all of the terriotory in louisana. Jefferson was thrilled about this offer. Jefferson beleived in small republic farms, and that required land. So on April 30, 1803, the Louisana purchase was approved.This is important to us becasue it made the size of the United Sates doubeled. [Mcdugal Littell,p.346]

    The Lewis and Clark Journey
    Their Jorney beginned in the summer of 1803. By winter came, they reached St.Loius. When they left St.Louis in the month of May, 1804, Jefferson had instructed them to explore the Missourii RIver. He also told them to have good relations with the Native Americans. This is important to the U.S. becasue it was the first american expedition to cross the western part of the United States. [McDougal Littell p. 348-349]

    Befroe the war, there were rising tensions in texas. The war begins in 1833. Austin went to Mexico city to present a list of requested reforms.That was presented to the Mexican Officails.The mexican agreed to most of the reforms. Santa Anna that if the requests wern't met, Austin would support breaking away form mexican rule. They jailed Austin.Santa Anna sent more troops down to Mexico. This is important to the U.S. becasue this was leading to texas becoming a state. [McDougal Littell, p. 429]

    On April 25,1846, a mexican unit crossed the Rio Grande and ambushed an American patrol.Polk sent a message out to congress saying "Mexico has invaded our territory."That was when the war began. In February 1848, the war ended with a treaty.This event is important becasue after the war ended, Mexico regonized texas was part of the U.S. Also victory in a war with mexico allowed Americans to expand the country across the continent.[McDougal Littell p.433-438]

    A guy named James Marshall discovered the first peice of gold in California. There were these people called forty-niner's because they went to California to find gold. That started in 1849. In 1849, people from all over California and the United Staes raced to the American River to start the California gold rush.This event is important beacuse it made Californias economy boost up and it changed the nations hsitory.     In 1848, the nations leaders had begun to debate how to deal with slavery in the lands gained from the war. Later,both North and South worried about what would happen if California became a state. A guy named Dougalas came up with the compromise to solve this problem.This event caused impacted the U.S.becasue it was a new law that came to settle the crisis.This event made the U.S close war because the act was about fugitives and their rights. Which could lead to war.-American History text book

    During the election of March 1855, there were a lot of settlers in the Kansas territory. Antislavery settler rejected the elcted government. In may, there was an attack called the Sack of Lawrence. This attck was a violent one. As the violence spread, civil war broke out into Kansas. This impacted history becasue Civil war broke out in Kansas.This event imapcted the U.S becasue Civil War started to happen in Kansas.     In 1859, a guy name John Brown wanted to uprise slaves.What he needed to do was that he planned to capture the weapons in the U.S. arsenal at Harpers Ferry,Virgina. Brown and 18 other poeple captured the Harpers Ferry arsenal.There was an attack at Harpers Ferry against Brown and the U.S. marines.This was one step closer to the civil war.This event impacted the U.S. becasue in 1860,the nation headed toward the election and the issue of slavery had raised the tensions-American History text book

    The Assassination of Abraham Lincoln
    A famous actor named John Wilkes Booth shot Abraham Lincoln at a play at Ford's Theatre in Washington, D.C As soon he was shot, he was brought to a boarding house.Then he died early in the moring the next day. A train carried Lincoln's body on a path back home for burial in Springfield, Illinois. A mourning nation turned out by the hundreds of thousands to say good-bye to their President, the first to fall by an assassin's bullet.This event was the first president assassination ever in the U.S.

    Way back,the Yankees was called the HighLanders, but then later hey changed the name to the Yankees. The yankees had 27 World Championships, 40 Pennants, and 51 Playoff Appearances. Forty-three Yankees players and eleven Yankees managers have been in the Baseball Hall of Fame, including Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, and Yogi Berra. I would like to take a time machine back to when they started and see the frist game they had and to a game today. This also important to me.

Also in that year, the United Staes joined the war. World War I is important becauseNorth and South America would be surrounded by enemies to the democratic institutions represented in those areas. The United States would be surrounded by hostile forces bent upon complete world domination.Also if we hadn't won world war I we would have no freedom.

    The Giants were founded in 1925. Mara owned the team until his death in 1959, when it was passed on to his sons, Wellington and Jack. During their history,the Giants have acquired eight NFL championships, four of which came in Super Bowls. In just its third season, the team finished with the best record in the league at 11–1–1.I would love to go see a football game with them in the future.This would be important to me because I love the New York Giants.My family was from New York, so thats why.

    On October 29, 1929, Black Tuesday hit Wall Street New York as investors traded some 16 million shares on the New York Stock Exchange in one day. Billions of dollars were lost. It wiped out thousands of investors. America and the rest of the industrialized world went downhill into deep depression. The reason why its important is because it was the largest econmic downturn in american history causing people to be jobless and to lose their life savings.

    Jerry Siegel wrote a story called "The Reigon of the Super- Man, in 1933, Siegel and Joe Shuster created a comic book entilted The Superman. They built on their previous ideas and came up with a character called Krypton. The Superman section of Action comics was made up of a cut up of a comic strip. Then later they got 12 pages in a comnic showing Superman attempting to save an inoocent woman. The first apperence is importent because it was the first apperrence of Superman in comics.

    World war II broke out 2 decades later after World War I. Among the estimated 45-60 million people killed were 6 million Jews murdered. World War II is important because i gave us freedom.

    Japan's Attack on Pearl Harbor
    Before 8am on December 7, 1941, the japanese fighter planes attached the American naval base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. It brought World II. More than 2,000 soiders and sailers died in the attack and 1,000 of them were injured. The World War was against Italy, Germany, and Japan. The United States would fight with the Soviet Uniion and Britian making up the Allied Powers. The reason why it's important is because it was a suprise strike by the japanese Navy and it started World War II.

    The atomic bombings of the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan were led by the United States during the final stages of World War II in 1945. The two events are the only use of nuclear weapons in war. There were 90,000 buildings in Hiroshima before the bomb was dropped; only 28,000 remained after the bombing.There were 1,780 nurses before, only 150 remained who were able to tend to the sick and dying.This is important because it ended the war, and caused a lot of destruction in Hiroshima.

    On June 25, 1950, the Korean War began when some 75,000 soldiers from the North Korean People’s Army. This invasion was the first military action of the Cold War. By July, American troops had entered the war on South Korea’s behalf. Finally, in July 1953, the Korean War came to an end. It's important because the Korean war was important because it had such a big influence on Korean history and present time,

    The war began in 1954. More than 3 million people (including 58,000 Americans) were killed in the Vietnam War; more than half were Vietnamese civilians. In 1975, communist forces seized control of Saigon, ending the Vietnam War. The vietnam war is important becasue The most important people that were in the Vietnam War were the soldiers. The soldiers gave up their lives and leave their families to fight for our freedom. Many soldiers also gave up their lives for us.They are the important people.

    John F. kennedy won the election in 1960. He was the youngest person ever to be elacted president. In his Inagural address, he spoke the oppertunities and dangers of facing americans. He also spoke of his support for the goals in the Civil Rights movement. He encouraged ameicans to support Freedom. This is important because his speech was one of the greastest speech's in history. His speech also encouraged people.

    Spider-Man is a fictional character, a comic book superhero that appears in comic books published by Marvel Comics. When Spider-Man first appeared in the early 1960s, teenagers in superhero comic books were usually caught up in a role of sidekick to the protagonist. Marvel has featured Spider-Man in several comic book series, the first and longest-lasting of which is titled. It's important because it was the first time Spiderman was ever appeared.

    On this day, Martin Luther King gave "I have a dream" speech. More than 200,000 americans gathhered in Washington D.C. for a political rally called the March of Wahsington. Martin Luther king was the last one to sign up for the speech at the march and he was the last one to speak. In his speech he called for an end to Racisim. There were 9 others that gave their own speech's. It's important because The March on Washington was a cornerstone moment in the passing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

The first Super Bowl championship game was between the NFL Green Bay Packers and kansas City Chiefs. The First Super Bowel is important because it the first game and becasue it was played on 2 tv programs and it was against 2 rival leagues. The NFL and the AFL.

Throughout Washington and throughout the country, there were celebrations to mark the inauguration and the release of the hostages.It's important because Iran realesed the hostages that were held for 444 days.

    The Space Shuttle Challenger disaster occurred on January 28, 1986, A disater happened. As a result of the disaster, the Air Force decided to cancel its plans to use the Shuttle for classified military satellite launches. One study reported that 85 percent of Americans surveyed had heard the news within an hour of the accident. The Challenger disaster has been used as a case study in many discussions of engineering. It's important because it was the second space shuttle launched into space.

    This is the day I was born. I was the 6th one born in my family. I was in PA. When I was a baby, it was christmas and during church Iw as baby jesus for the mass. Every christmas if there is a newborn in our church, our preist would ask if their baby would be jesus. What happens is that the preist would hold the newborn while childeren in the church sit around the preaist and the newborn. But I was the only one in my family to be Jesus at Christmas time.

    On September 11, 2001, terrorists attacked the Unites States. They hijacked four airplanes while they were in flight. The terrorsts flew two air planes into two skyscrapers called the twin towers in New York City. One airplane crashed into the pentagon and destoyed part of it. The last plane crashed in Shanksville Pensylvania. This is really importat to Americas history because it was the first time thta the U.S. was attcked by terriosists.

    1000 Islands, New York
    There are 1000 islands and there is place where you can go on a boat and get a tour of all of them. You even drive through Canada for some of the islands. While we were in the water, they let the kids drive the boat,then a few hours later, they bring you to Bolt Castle. It is really ineresting.The reason why its important is becasue it was the first time I ever been there.I would take a time machine there becasue it was so fun, and it was an awsome experience driving the boat for a few seconds.

I am making my confirmation at Our Lady Of Lordes Church. I am so excited to be confirmed. Thsi is my last day sunday school.
