In this scene, Wukong the monkey king, is not allowed to go into the party simply because he is a monkey. Furthermore, the gods at the party laugh and ridicule him over things he cannot control. As a result, this scene is a moment of bullying as a group of people who have power, exert their control over Wukong to make him feel embarrassed and unworthy. -

In this scene, the teacher exerts different moments of racism. First, she mispronounces his name which shows that she is not trying to fully understand his culture and heritage, secondly, she assumes that he is from China, even though he is from San Francisco. These moments of assumptions while is seemingly harmless, perpetuate a higher ideology that Asians are foreigners. -

Following the scene from page 30, a classmate raises his hand to make a racist assumption that Chinese people eat dogs. This is an instance of stereotyping and assuming. Another moment that is present in this page is where Suzy, the other Asian is the class, is automatically linked to Jin Wang simply because they are both Asian. This perpetuates the ideology that all Asians are the same and creates another negative stereotype. -

This scene depicts a lunch box scene where Jin Wang is ridiculed for the food he brings to school. Food is often linked to culture, and the bullies make fun of Jin Wang's food, thus ridiculing his culture. This othering of Jin Wang and even making fun of the food he brings because it's different, is another instance of injustice in the form of bullying. -

This is another scene where bullying is depicted. The bully says that if Jin Wang doesn't give him his lunch, he will force him to eat his boogers and will beat him up. This type of action by a person of power (the bully) and the victim (Jin Wang) further creates the distance between Jin Wang and his peers.
