    Battle of Britain
    Britain Air Force and the Luftwaffe, Nazis air force, and this was the first battle mainly fought in the air. The outcome of this was Hitler called off his planned invasion and then the battle of Britain ended. Also there was many deaths of the men who were in this war along with air crafts and resources. The battle that took place in Britain was the turning point of WWII. (Ended on Oct. 31,1940.)
  • Battle of Midway

    Battle of Midway
    This battle was between the US Navy and the Imperial Japanese Navy which took place 6 months after the attack of Pearl Harbor. The US Navy defeated the Japanese and the successful defense of the major base worked.The code breakers were able to figure out the Japanese naval code which helped American leaders learn their movements. With the help of this, the US Navy was able to surprise attack the Japanese which made the US smarter and gave us better assets. (Ended June 6 1942.)
  • Battle of Guadalcanal

    Battle of Guadalcanal
    This battle was the first major offensive and decisive battle for the allies along the Pacific coast. Also the US Marines launched a surprise attack and took control of an air base that was under construction. This was a successful battle against the Japanese. The significance of this battle is that it was the first retake of the pacific and that there were heavy casualties on both sides of this battle. (Ended in Feb. 9, 1943)
  • Battle of Stalingrad

    Battle of Stalingrad
    Germany and its allies fought against the Soviet Union for control of the city, Stalingrad. The last German troops surrendered to the Red Army which turned into a crazy battle. On June 22, the Nazis did a massive invasion against the USSR. The battle of Stalingrad was a brutal military battle between Russians and Germans. This battle marked the end of Germany’s advances in eastern Europe and Russia. Also this battle was the first major German loss since WWII. (Ended on Feb. 1943)
  • Battle of el-Alamein

    Battle of el-Alamein
    The British Empire and the German/Italian Army fought in this battle. The outcome of this battle was that the British forces defeated the Africa Corps. The allies defeated a major German commander and the German army defeated the allies. This allowed the allied troops to access Egypt. (Ended on Nov. 4, 1942)
  • D-Day

    D-Day
    The troops who fought in this battle were mainly from the UK, Canada, and the US. Although there were other troops involved such as Australia, Belgium, Denmark, France, Greece, New Zealand, Norway and Poland. The outcome of this battle was that it forced the Germans to fight a two front war again. The invasion is significant because of the role it played in WWI. Also the allies accepted Nazi Germanys surrender after the fact. (Ended June 30,1944.)
  • Battle of the Bulge

    Battle of the Bulge
    A million allied troops along with 500,000 Americans fought in this battle.The allies won this battle which resulted in about 100,000 Germans captured, killed, or wounded. Also 19,000 soldiers were killed, 47.5k were wounded, and 23k+ were missing after the war. This war ended with a huge amount of casualties. This battle showed Hitlers last major offensive in the war although the battle was intended to split the allied lines and force negotiated peace. (Ended on Jan. 25,1945)
  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    Battle of Iwo Jima
    A military campaign between the US Marines and the Imperial Army of Japan fought in this battle.The Americans got the victory during this battle even though both sides of this battle suffered great loss. The Japanese had about 20k troops in the battle and only 200 survived in the end. This battle was important because in the end it allowed the US to see how long and hard Japan would fight to keep control of their island. (Ended March 26,1945.)
  • Battle of Okinawa

    Battle of Okinawa
    The US and Japanese forces fought during this battle. The US 10th army overcame the last major battles with the Japanese resistance which ended in the being the bloodiest battle of WWII. It was one of the bloodiest, horrific battles. This battle was the one that ended with the largest casualties which was about 150k in total between Japan and the allies.
