This was an attempt to discourage allied forces from entering the war, but had a reversed effect on the U.S, and led to them entering the war. .

    The Wannsee conference was a meeting to discuss a final solution to the Jewish race. This conference ultimately led to the atrocities that occurred during WW2. The conference introduced the idea to put the Jews in labor camps, and have them work to death. It also led to the introduction of the gas chamber, which would lead to the death of many.

    Operation Gomorrah was a huge bombing run by 791 British bombing jets. It is said that around 2,300 tons of bombs were dropped. The operation took place over Hamburg, Germany during the night time, and day when the American forces bombed. This was also called Blitz week. These raids killed around 30,000 of both civilians and officers, and secured a win for allied troops.

    The invasion of Normandy, or D-day was an allied invasion of Nazi territory on the beach of Normandy. 425,000 troops died on the allied side, and 207,000 on the German side. The invasion was to cut through Normandy into France, and to continue to invade, until overtaking Germany. The invasion was a successes, and marked a serious pathway that would eventually lead to the end of World War 2.

    Operation thunder clap, or the firebombing of Dresden was an unnecessary bombing of the German territory of Dresden. It was the single most destructive bombing, and destroyed 8 miles of city land. Around 135,000 bodies were found. even though Germany is on the verge of surrender,allied forces decided to bomb Dresden at the Yalta conference, ultimately destroying the city.

    The battle of Iwo Jima was a major battle on the eastern front. It was an important milestone for the U.S island hopping tactic. The battle itself resulted in an allied victory, with 25,000 deaths. The battle however was tough. The Japanese had only attacked at the night time, and had bonsai attacks, but overall they lost the battle.

    The island of Okinawa was the last island that was captured by the allies, before Japan itself. The battle itself was very brutal, and lasted 82 days.     V E day is the official day that Germany surrendered during WW2. It is considered a day of celebration to most of the world, due to the allies hard work to stop the axis powers.

    The dropping of little boy was the first use of an atomic bomb in warfare. It was used on a Japanese town of Hiroshima. In its use it killed around 146,000. In term with its use, the Japanese did not surrender, yet in was an important use in completing the eastern front.

    The dropping of Fat man was the last use of an atomic bomb in warfare. It was dropped over the city of Nagasaki, and although having a larger range, it only killed 80,00. This essentially led to the surrender of the Japanese. With its destructive power, atom bombs were banned.

    VJ day is the day that Japan officially surrendered. Although they had technically surrendered on august 14th-15th, they had signed a treaty on September 2nd. This officially ended WW2, and is known for a day of celebration. It is also known as the day in which Fascism dies.
