    Western Front
    There were two main places where the fights happened. The western and eastern front. The western front was the border of France and Germany. The western front introduced trenches as a means of fighting. The trench war was the first war to use trenches in WW1. A few main battles took place in the western front. These included the Battle of Verdun, the Battle of Somme, the Battle of Marne, and the Battle of Arras. These battles also included trenches. This was a life-changing war.
  • Eastern Front

    Eastern Front
    The eastern front contained many important battles, including the Battle of Tannenberg. The eastern front was relatively on the border between Russia and Austro-Hungary. The eastern front along with the western front was where most of the fighting in WW1 took place. France and Russia were two countries as a part of the allied powers, and they did most of the fighting because they were the strongest. Austro-Hungary and Germany played the same role for the central powers.

    Serbian Assassination
    Although tension was being built up between certain European countries for many years, what actually triggered the war was when a Serbian man assassinated the Austro-Hungarian heir to the throne.

    This war was caused by certain countries wanting more land or power over others. Countries formed alliances, which included the central powers and the allied powers. These forces fought for many years until the Germans surrendered.

    Forming alliances
    Once the war began, countries started to form alliances. The alliances were the Central Powers and the Allied Powers. The main Central Powers consisted of Austria-Hungary, Germany, Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire. The Allied Powers consisted of Russia, Serbia, France, Belgium, and Great Britain.
