Mom leaves her farm and family for Idaho.
She left everything behind. -
Sal gets postcards from her mother of the sites she visited.
I got postcards from everywhere she went. -
Mom gets in a bus crash and is killed.
It was a sharp turn. The bus lost control and went o f the side of the road. -
Dad and Sal move from their farm adn into Euclid,Ohio.
"Just over a year ago, my father plucked me up like a weed and took me and all our belongings and we drove three hundred miles straight north and stopped in front of a housee in Euclid, Ohio. -
Sal meets Phoebe and they become friends.
Phoebe was a good friend. -
Gram and Gramps take Sal on a road trip to see her mother.
"It was after all the adventures with Phoebe that my grandparents came up with a plan to drive from Kentucky to Ohio, where they would pick me up, and then the three of us would drive two thousand miles west to Lewiston, Idaho. -
Gram, Gramps, and Sal stop at Lake Michigan for a quic splash in the water.
"Are we at the ocean?" Gram asked. "We're not supposed to be passing the ocean, are we?" "You gooseberry, that's Lake Michigan." Gramps kissed his finger and put it against Gram's cheek. "I sure would like to put my feet in that water," Gram said -
Grarm is bitten by a poisonous snake at the Missouri River
It was very hot outside so Gramps took a detour and parked by the Missouri River. Gram and Gramps are sitting in the water watching Sal throw rocks into the water. A water snake appears and it looks harmless but it bites gram and she is rushed to the hospital imediately. -
The three detour to look at the Badlands.
Everyone looked around and saw the rock. -
Visit to the Black Hills
It was thei rlast day in South Dakota and Gramps had t see the Blac Hills. -
Going to see Old Faithful
Gram had her heart onseeing Old Faithful through the trip and is very exciteed dhe can see it know. -
Gram has a stroke
While they were heading to Coeur D'Alene Gram said she would take a nap but Gramps and Sal soon see gram is pale and is not responding so they rus her to the hospital where the doctors say she had a stroke. -
Sal takes a drive.
Gramps didn't want Sal to stay in the hospital the whole time so he gave her the keys to his car and told her to go see her mother. On the way to see her mother Sal stops where the accident happened and goes down ther e to see the bus that her mother was in when it crashed. Sal is caught driving alone by the sheirff while looking down there. instead of taking her to jail he takes her to see her mother. -
Gram dies
gram does not survive from the stroke and does not complete the whole trip -
Sal and Dad return to Bybanks
After road trip Sal and Dad move back to Bybanks. Gramps moves in with them.
