  • the first time Janie gets sucked into someone's dream

    The first plot point I'm going to talk about is the first time Janie gets sucked into someone's dream. It happens on a train going to Chicago to visit her grandmother. Janie was eight years old at the time. A an on the train with her falls asleep and has a dream about giving a presentation, and then he is suddenly wearing only his underwear, and is embarassed. Before this time, Janie had never experienced being trapped in another person's dream.

  • Janie meets her best friend, Carrie Brandt

    The second plot point is when Janie meets her best friend, Carrie Brandt. it is three years later, when Janie is eleven, and Carrie's familiy moves in next door to Janie. Later in the book, when Janie and Carrie are seventeen, they are still best friends.
  • Janie talks to Caleb Strumheller for the the first time

    The third plot point is when Janie talks to Caleb Strumheller for the the first time. Caleb falls in love with her, but this dosn't come until later in the book. Janie is at her homecoming dance, and decides to leave early, but she dosn't have a ride home. Caleb is skateboarding past her and notices that she is walking home without any shoes, so he offers to let her use his skateboard, and Janie agrees.
  • Janie meets Miss Stubin

    The fourth plot point is when Janie meets Miss Stubin. Janie works at Heather Home, which is a nursing home, and there is a resident there named Martha Stubin. Martha has the same problem as Janie, and she appears in one of Janie's dreams and helps her fix the problem, but this dosn't happen until later in the book.
  • Janie enters Caleb's reccuring nightmare for the first time.

    The fifth plot point is when Janie enters Caleb's reccuring nightmare for the firt time. Later in the book, we learn that Caleb was abused growing up, and he's been having nightmares about his past. In the nightmare, Caleb is behind a shed, and his father, the one who abused him growing up is transformed into a grotesque monster with knives for fingers. Janie sees herself in this dream. The second Janie walks to Caleb, unafraid, and Caleb leans in and kisses her. When he pulls away from her, the
  • Marth Stubin dies

    The sixth plot point is when Marth Stubin dies. Janie didn't know yet that Miss Stubin could help her, but she feels really sad that she died, and she was crying over her death. Not long after her death, Janie receives a note from Miss Stubin. It says: Dear Janie, thank you for my dreams. From one catcher to another, Martha Stubin. P.S-You have more power than you think. It comes with a cheque for five thousand dollars, for college.
  • Janie has the dream with Miss Stubin

    The seventh plot point is when Janie has the dream with Miss Stubin. Janie tries to will herself to have a dream that will help her with her problem. While Janie cannot stop herself from beng sucked into other people's dreams, she can use her power to help people. In the dream, there is also a second Janie. In her dream, Janie is drowning in a lake with many other floating dead bodies just beneath the surface of the water. Caleb also appears in the dream. The second Janie and Miss Stubin tell h
  • Janie gets trapped in Mr. McVickers dream

    The eighth plot point is when Janie gets trapped in Mr. McVickers dream. Mr. McVicker is another resident at Heather Home. In his dream, him and his sone Edward are arguing and yelling hateful things at eachother. Miss Stubin then appears in his dream and helps him by willing him to ask her for help, and then brings him back to the starting spot of the dream. She then tells him how he can change the dream. Janie realizes that this is what she can do to to use her problem to help other people.
  • Janie helps Caleb in his dream.

    The ninth plot point is when Janie helps Caleb in his dream. The dream starts out with Caleb in a jail cell with a sign above that says "drug pusher." The scene abruptly changes, however, and they are in Janie's bedroom. Janie is watching Caleb sitting on the floor, writing something on a noatepad. The first note says "It's not what you think." Caleb then tears off that sheet of paper and below it is another note in his handwriting. this one says, "I think I'm in love with you." The scene then
  • Janie meets Fran Komisky, Caleb's boss

    The tenth plot point is when Janie meets Fran Komisky, Caleb's boss. Caleb wanted Janie to meet her because he said that he would rather lose his job than lose her. Caleb and Janie had a fight the night before, and Janie was already mad at him because he had been lying to her. Caleb was working for the police, and pretending to be a drug dealer to help them catch the real drug dealer. Caleb wasn't supposed to tell this to anybody, but he didn't want to lose Janie, so he had her speak with his b
  • Janie is sucked into Mr. Wilder's dream.

    The last plot point is at the end of the book when Janie is sucked into Mr. Wilder's dream. Caleb had been pretending to date Mr. Wilder's daughter, Shay because Fran beleived that Mr. Wilder was the drug pusher they where trying to catch. This dream wasn't described in the book, but Janie described it to Fran and Caleb, and she said that in the dream, they where on a yacht with the Wilder family and the boat was caught up in a horrible storm, and Mr. Wilder was doing everythng he could to save
