    The Chinese emporer Wudi conquered the Vietnam region in the second century BCE, until the first century CE they were not oppresive and did not replace any of the local leaders. Then the Chinese started to tax the vietnemeese heavily and tried to force their culture on them. The two sisters started a rebellion and raised and army of over 80,000 solidiers which had many female officers and solidiers, a trait that they still carry today, and they drove the Chinese out.
