    The Discovery of America by Columbus

    Christopher Columbus Discovered America in 1492. Columbus led his three ships the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria out of the Spanish port of Palos. His objective was to sail west until he reached Asia (the Indies) where the riches of gold, pearls and spice awaited.
  • The Settlement of Jamestown

    On December 6, 1606, the journey to Virginia began on three ships: the Susan Constant, the Godspeed, and the Discovery. On May 13 1607, they arrived in North America to start a settlement.They picked Jamestown, Virginia for their settlement, which was named after their King, James I. The settlement became the first permanent English settlement in North America.
