  • Missouri Compomise

    Missouri wanted to begin as a slave state when it was first becoming a state. The government allowed Missouri to be a slave state on the condition that the northern teritories soon to become states would not be allowed to be a slave states in an effort to begin to end slavery and that the state of Maine be created to even out the uneven slave to non-slave states majority that would be.
