    Northern opponents of slavery formed the free-soil party to prevent the expansion of slavery into the western territories.
  • Fugitive Slave Act

    The compromise of 1850 undid the Missory compromise. It also included a fugitive Slave act which allowed the states to arrest slave catchers.

    Compromise of 1850 was passed, and California was admitted as a free state but in the other territory acquired from Mexico voters would decide the slavery issue for themselves.

    Dred cot an African American from Missouri went to the Supreme court and sued for his freedom in 1846. The court ruled against Dred but it was a good beginning to end slavery.

    Homestead strike becan in the summe rof 1892 Carnegie steel plant's workers got their wages cut. Many called a strike. In the end the workers tried to assassinate Frick. However Carnegie also stopped production in that town.
