  • Land Purchase

    Land Purchase
    Purchase of the formly known Soerry Farm located in Linden & Clark, to be site for Winfield Township. Residents of both Linden and Clark were unhappy about not having any ownership of this new town.
  • Construction of Winfield Begins

    Construction of Winfield Begins
    Mutal Ownership Defense Housing Project # 28071. It was developed and built by defense workers of the Kearny, NJ, shipyards.
  • Winfield Township is established

    Winfield Township is established
    Governor Charles Edison did not want Winfield to be it's own town, and he vetod the bill for it to be. However, there was a vote in the Senate 11-5 in favor of it being established, overturning the governors veto.
  • Move in Day!

    The first 145 families arrive in their new town, Winfield!
  • Opening of town school

    Town school opens!
  • Worst Crime in Winfield History

    The worst crime in Winfield History to date. Ex-policeman Walter Fizer shot and killed his wife, her sister, and her mother and then killed himself within sight of his children at his home on Wavecrest Ave. This is stil the worst crime Winfield has ever had in it's town.
  • Coporation Purchase

    The Winfield Park Mutal Housing Coperation ( which is what it is still called today) purchases the Winfield Park project from the government for $1,358,567.21.
  • School Fire

    Winfield School burns to the ground after an accidental fire caused by construction, leaving it's students Pre-k through 8th grade nowhere to have classes.
  • 60th Anniversary!

    Town celebrates 60th anniversary- led by Grand Marshall Leona Harriot Burke, who was one of the first residents to move in.
