    Grace was born into a world that was constantly changing in October of 1920. World War I had recently ended. Woodrow Wilson was president. There were no Walmarts, televisions, video games, computers or cell phones. The automobile was making its way into the lives of American families.

    An invention that acted sort of like today's modern televisions was invented in 1923. It looked nothing like the ones we have now and at the time there was only one channel with no cartoons! Mrs. King was three years old.

    PEZ
    PEZ candy was invented in 1927. The original flavor was peppermint and made for adults. It came in tin boxes instead of the colorful cartoon dispensers you can find today. Mrs. King was seven years old.
  • Chocolate Chips and cookies

    Chocolate Chips and cookies
    There was actually a time when chocolate chips and chocolate chip cookies didn't exists. In 1931 the chocolate chip was invented and it didn't take long to start mixing them into cookie dough. Mrs. King was 11 years old.

    The jet engine was created in this year. It really changed the way billions of people were able to travel. Mrs. King was 17 years old.

    Color T.V.
    The first color was brought to t.v. in 1944. Special tubes in the t.v. let it produce a picture with 3 colors. Mrs. King was 24.
  • Microwave ovens

    Microwave ovens
    The first microwave oven that was able to cook food was invented in this year. It was over 5 1/2 feet tall and weighed over seven hundred pounds. I bet it was hard to find room for one of those in the kitchen. Mrs. King was 27 years old.

    The T.V. Remote
    The First T.V. remote was invented in 1955. It was called the flash matic. Before this channels were changed by hand. Mrs. King was 35 years old.
  • Barbie

    Barbie
    The Barbie doll was invented in 1959 and cost $3. Barbie was named after a real person, Barbie Millicint Roberts, from right here in Wisconsin. Grace was 39 years old.
  • Humans in Space

    Humans in Space
    The first human traveled into space in 1961. Mrs. King was 41
  • Man on the Moon

    Man on the Moon
    Nasa Astronaut Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the moon in 1969. Mrs. King was 49 years old.

    Some of the first emails were sent in 1971. Mrs. King was 51
  • The Video Game

    The Video Game
    The first video game system was released in 1977. It was called Atari and it started out having only nine games. Mrs. King was 57.
  • The Home Computer

    The Home Computer
    The personal computer was finally able to make its way into homes and work places. They were difficult to use and needed more than the click of a button to work. Most homes did not even have one. Mrs. King was 57 years old.
  • The Laptop

    The Laptop
    The laptop computer was released into the world. The couldn't hold a lot of information and were used mainly for typing. Mrs. King was 62.
  • Game Boy

    Game Boy
    One of the first hangheld video game systems. It was nothing like the ones that exist today. Mrs. King was 69.
  • World Wide Web

    World Wide Web
    An internet that is kind of like the one we use today, only with not so many websites to search was introduced to the world. Mrs. King was 71.
  • DVD

    DVD
    Some of the first movies were released onto DVDs in 1996. DVD players were kind of expensive and it took a few years before they really took off. Mrs. King was 76.
  • The Ipod

    The Ipod
    The Ipod was invented in 2001, replacing the portable CD player. Mrs. King was 81.
  • YOUTUBE

    YOUTUBE
    The popular video sharing website YOUTUBE was launched. Mrs. King was 85.
