    Menelaus is chosen to become Helen's husband. He is the brother of Agamemnon and became the King of Sparta. Before he was chosen to marry Helen, Menelaus took an oath that bound him to punish anyone that tried to carry Helen away.

    Three goddesses, Aphrodite, Hera, and Athena fought over the Golden Apple because it was to be given to the fairest. Zeus sent the goddesses to Paris to judge the three. Paris gave the Golden Apple to Aphrodite, the goddess of Love and Beauty. In exchange for the Golden Apple, Aphrodite made Helen fall in love with Paris.

    Paris stayed with the newly weds for a few days. The bound between host and guest was very srong and was never broken or harmed. Menelaus left Paris and Helen alone while he went off to Crete. During the time he was gone, Paris took Helen to Troy. When Menelaus came home to find his wife gone, he called upon the Greeks for help. They then set off for Troy to find Helen.

When the Greeks seiged the city, they suffered heavy causualties and still were without Helen. The king of Teuthranians eventually told Achilles, a Greek, how to get to get to Troy and the war began.

    The first nine years of the war were fought between the Greeks, Trojans, and Troy's neighboring regions. The cities around Troy were sending the Trojans supplies, therefore the Greeks were sent to conquer them. The Greeks won many important battles in the war but could not break down the walls of Troy.

After the horse was constructed, the Greeks gave it to the Trojans as a present but little did they know that Greek soldiers were concealed in the massive horse. When the statue arrived in Troy, the Trojans were mezmerized by its beauty and forgot about the war. But not for long.
