March Revolution

strikes and riots over food and coal shortages broke out in Petrograd.

Stepped Down

Mar 15, 1917

The Tsar, Nicholas II stepped down and left temporary goverment to administer the country.

November Revolution

Nov 8, 1917

the All-Russian Congress of Soviets authorized the Bolsheviks to set up a Council of People's Commissars to run the national government

Russia leaves the war.

Dec 2, 1917

The new government quickly withdrew Russia from the war with Germany. On Dec. 2, 1917, Russia negotiated a cease-fire.

Bolsheviks

Mar 1, 1918

Lenin's group became the Russian Communist Party (Bolshevik) in March 1918.

Russia move's its capital.

Mar 1, 1918

In March 1918, the Bolshevik government moved the capital of Russia from Petrograd to Moscow.

Russia loses 1/4 of its land

Mar 3, 1918

the government signed the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk to prevent German invasion. Under this treaty, Russia lost a quarter of its territory.

The end

Jan 1, 1920

by 1920, the Communists had won and the revolution was complete. there was no offical end.
