The boys were giving their parents their last kisses goodbye at 8:00. Each kid received their identification nnumber. FInally, all the anticipation was flooded at 9:00. The major swerved his hand down and it began.

Curley is the first vitim
Curley was the first out of 100 kids to be ticketed. This was a sad time because it was just the beginning of the walk. When ticketed you are killed. -
The book
Harkness is introducing the possibility of his book. The book would be based on all their experiences during the walk. Everybody is a little hesitant at first when hearing about it.

He is a murderer
Barkovitch is considered a killer. He basically causes the death of rank because he was instagating him on. Every walker basically turns on Barkovitch at this point in the book. Which is not a good thing for him. -
Stebbins a caterpillar?
Stebbins is a quiet fellow who mainly minds his own business. He primarily only talks to Garraty. Ray decides to make a comment referring to a movie where ray calls Stebbins a caterpillar. Stebbins thinks he's the white rabbit. -
Interference
If anybody from outside of the walk wants to help a walker they can get an interference ticket. For example, when Percy's mom attempted to get onto the road and find her son. This would have caused the death of Percy's mom.

McVries Saves Garraty
Ray Garraty the one whose supposed to win it all is saved by a man whose name is McVries. McVries saves Ray's life when Garraty began to laugh hysterically and cant stop. McVries gets him to calm down and saves him from being ticketed. -
The three Musketeers
Arthur Baker, Peter McVries, and Ray Garraty refer themselves to the three Musketeers. Arthur Baker sadly dies first out of all three of them, He requests one thing from Ray before he died. That was for a nice casket. -
Scramms crazy death
Scarmm most likely had a mental break down and just went loose. Him and one of his friedns decide to go towards the end of the road and do some crazy things they aren't supposed to do. Therefore, they are shot dead. -
McVries dies
The death of Peter McVries is crucial because numerous times he had saved the life of Ray Garraty. He was also considered to be Rays best friend towards the end of the book. Peter sits down in happiness and dies. -
Stebbings and Ray
Only Ray and Stebbins are left. This is very important because we finally see who is going to be the more focused walker. We are going to find out who is going to win the race and be declared the champion. -
The major reveals a secret
The major has a rumor behind his head. The rumor is that the major has several kids all over the place. One of those kids happens to be Stebbins. Stebbins is beginning to feel pressure and depression because of his father. -
Ray wins the Race
Ray Garraty, the one who came most mentally prepared to the long walk was turned out to be our winner. It was almost to obvious that he was going to win, he was to comfortable with everything that was happening. The major is awaiting Ray's arrival.
