    Sumerians invented a writing system called "cuneiform" to keep their records. People draw their texts on clay tablets, and they were the first examples of written language in the history. They mainly draw about business, trades, records of their products, and stories and myths, as well.

    Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press. It made possibble to manufacture of books. After the invention of it, books and printed materials have gained a wide-spreead popularity. The education level has significantly increased because people started to be able to reach books easily, especially in Europe.

    The first public school was founded. It is still operating today.

  • BLACKBOARD

    BLACKBOARD
    The emerging of public schools led to the evolution of blackboards. James Pillan was the first to use a blackboard in his classroom, at the Old High School in Edinburgh, Scotland. Thanks to its invention, a whole class could visualize the information on the board. Before the invention of it, students had mini-blackboards and teachers would write the information on each student's board.

    Magic lantern is an early example of projectors. It has its own system to reflect photos and it was used as an educational tool for a time.

    It is a more developed type of the magic lantern. With this tool, teachers were allowed to pause the presentations by turning a knob on the projector. They were widely used in classrooms.

    After computer's invention, they started to be used in classes to individualize instruction. This method was called computer-assisted instruction (CAI).

    It allowed teachers and students to reach studies. Teachers showed a lot of interest in Internet and it was widely used by schools. Even today, Internet has a very significant place in education.

    Blackboards were hard to wipe clean and they would become whitish after a little use. This led to the invention of whiteboards. They have glossy-white surface, and instead of chalks, whiteboard markers were used to write on whiteboards. Writing on whiteboard was more easier and healthier than blackboards.

    ONLINE EDUCATION
    The first online course was offered in 1984 by the University of Toronto and it is still used today. With this way, students can study without going to schools, just with their computers, phones or tablets. Students can take exams, attend online classes and do their homework.Today, this way of education is widely used because of COVID-19.

  • SMARTBOARD/ INTERACTIVE WHITEBOARD

    SMARTBOARD/ INTERACTIVE WHITEBOARD
    It looks like whiteboard but it is more developed. It works in the same way as a computer. You can touch and control the board with smartpen or your finger. It is useful for note taking, brainstorming, and games, as well.
