    The Invention of the Toilet

    The Invention of the Toilet
In the Middle Ages, the monks made toilets of wood or stone that stood over rivers, so the waste would not have to be picked up or anything of that sort. Ancient Rome used a waste system for the public. These bathhouses, the Baths of Caracalla, can hold up to 1,600 people. These bathhouses were not used every day, and most people removed waste by hand and threw it onto the street.

Alexander Cummings came up with the idea of an S-shaped pipe, of which will delete any bad smelling odors from the toilet. In 1778, Joseph Bramah designed his own toilet with an improved flushing system. These two men worked together by Alexander improving the toilet, and Joseph patenting and improving Alexander's idea.

Efficient and Sanitary Details of Today's Toilets
Companies such TOTO and American Standard have developed better models of the toilet, many of which most of Americans use today. Most people don't realize that this revolutionary invention has helped to make the world more sanitary and safer from germs and diseases. Some toilets today have a flush sensor instead of a handle, which is even more sanitary than the handle because you don't have to touch the existing germs. https://www.plumbingsupply.com/flushingtoilethistory.html
