As the "excitement" spread through the town, a special court assembled to hear the cases. Bridget Bishop was the first convicted and she was hung that June.
Event twoThe girls are caught dancing in the woods. They begin to act sick and Reverend Parris begins to cry over his daughters bed as she lays asleep in it. He prays that she gets better.

Event nineJohn confesses to Mr. Putnam that he saw the devil. After saying what he confessed, John agrees to sign a legal document for the people of the church that he was sentenced to witchcraft.
Proctor wanted to withdraw his confession because he wanted to save his name. He was crying and pleading saying, "Because it is my name! Because I cannot have another in my life! Because I lie and sign myself to lies! Because I am not worth the dust on the feet of them that hang!"
Event tenJohn Proctor, Rebecca Nurse and Martha Corey get sentenced to be hung. As they are waiting, they begin to say a prayer. Just as John finishes the prayer his rope gets dropped.
