a) The NATO was created by the capitalist countries, mainly the U.S and its allies, to stop the USSR's expansion plans, forbidding the revival of nationalist militarism in Europe through a strong North American presence in the continent and encouraging European political unification.
b) The communist countries, mainly the USSR and its allies, signed their own treaty and called it ' The Warsaw Pact '. -
NORAD
a) It was created during the Cold War as a response to the threat posed by the Soviet Union.
b) NORAD provided aerospace warning, air control and defense for North America from missiles, aircrafts, and all kinds of aerial threats. -
Terry Fox
Terry tried to raise awareness and money for cancer researches. He has inspired millions around the world. The annual Terry Fox Run, first organized in 1981, has grown to involve millions of participants in over 60 countries and is now the world's largest one- day fundraiser for cancer research. -
The Quiet Revolution
a) The Canadian economy was growing after WWII, Quebec didn't seem to benefit from it. The Provincial government encouraged the study of philosophy, religion, history and other social sciences and. By the 1950s most people in Quebec needed to speak English in order to get a job in the growing cities and industries.
b) A lot of Social, cultural and economical changes happened. Quebecers used the motto ' Maitres chez nous '.
