Battle of Bull Run
On this day Union and Confederate armies gathered near Manassas Junction,Virginia. Here at the battle stood 35,000 Union soldiers and 20,000 federal soldiers. After fighting the battle for a full day, the union was able to get the federals to retreat and go back to Washington.

Battle of Bull Run (or Manassas)
Union and Confederate armies gathered near Manassas Juntion, Virginia in what was known as the first major battle of the American Cival War. The union had 35,000 troops and the federals had 20,000 troops that fought in this battle. In the end of the battle, the federals retreated and left for Washington. -
Battle of Hampton Roads
This was the first battle between two iron clad warships. The battle ended in draw,preserved the union and gained control of James River. During this battle soldiers used rifle muskets for their weapon.

Perryville Kentucky
Battle of Perryville Kentucky is where half a union army fought a confederate army that thought most of union army was gone. Therefore, the federals thought they had not as much to worry about.
This made the confeds with draw when they discovered they were out numbered three to one.

On this day the Battle of Five Forks occurred in five forks virginia. A Confederate force who was guarding a key crossroad was found by Sheridan's Cavalry.
The defeat of the battle showed Grant that the Confederate army was starting to collapse and wasnt as strong as he had made them to be.
