Command Economy
Stalin during this time, is speaking on how his soon to be country is far behind in industrialization. He called for a command economy. This is where the fovenmnet make all economic decisions. Political leaders are allowed to identify economic needs and determine how to fulfill them. -
Propaganda
The arts were used for propaganda during Stalin's rule. An editorial in the Communist Party newspaper,Pravada, explained the purpose of art. "Literature, the cinema, the arts, are levers in the hadns of teh proletariat which must be used to show the masses positive models of initiative adn heroic labor." -
Absolute Dictatorship
Stalin turns against memebers of the Communist Party. Stalin did this to allow his dictatorship to become absolute. To begin the dictatorship Stalin's lieutenant was murdered. Translation:
"The Spirit of Great Lenin and His Victorious Banner inspires us during this Great Patriotic War" (Joseph Stalin)" -
The Great Purge
Stalin launched a campaign of terror directed at eliminating anyone who threatened is power. This was know as the Great Purge. He executed or sent Bolsheviks to labor camps for "crimes against the Soviet state." -
The Great Purge Ends
Stalin had gained total control of the Soviet government and the Communist Party. This was his exact goal to gain total control. Stalin was responsible for 8-13million deaths.
