Columbus was looking for a west water route to Asia/India.Columbus found a new world but he did not know it was a new world, he also brought back gold and other goods. Columbus was the one who started the spanish exploring in North America because of the riches he found.Columbus also made 4 trips.

Cortes Voyage

Cortes conquered the Aztecs in 1519.He sparked the interrest of many people to explore North and South America because he found so much gold.

Pineda's Voyage

Nov 6, 1519

Pineda found The Rio Grande. Pineda's map of the coast led to others exploring the land on the gulf coast.

De Vaca's Voyage

Apr 5, 1528

Narvez is De Vaca's leader.De Vaca wanted to explore Texas.He performed 1st surgery and was the first to write about the Texas Indians.

De Vaca Discovers Texas

Nov 4, 1528

De Vaca was in a shipwreck and landed in Galveston Texas, he was in Galveston for 8 years. He discovered the Coahuilitecans, Jumanos, and Karankawas.

Moscoso Expedition

Aug 5, 1532

De Soto was the leader of this expedition but he died.They discovered The Mississppi River.

Fray Marcus and Esteban Journey

Dec 7, 1539

Fray Marcus and Esteban were trying to study the land to the North evaluate.On there journey unfortunely Esteban died.At the end Fray Marcus reported seeing a city filled with gold larger than Mexico City.

Coronado's Expedition

Coronado was searching for Cibola and Quivera.Coronado's guide was Turk and he was strangeled by Coronado.Coronado discvered the Texas Palo Duro Canyon, and The Grand Canyon.Coronado reported no gold, harsh land, and mean indians, yhis caused for Spain not to explore for 150 years.
