    Cortes' goal was to find gold for Spain. He later landed in Mexico and conquered the Aztecs. This was important because he sparked the interest of many people to explore North and South America.

    He wanted to find a water route to the Pacific Ocean. He was the first to map the Gulf Coast from Florida to Texas and made a report of the region. His map of the coast led to others exploring the land.

    After he runs into a storm, he gets stranded on Galveston Island and is treated kindly by the Karankawas. He stayed there for 4 years and eventually escaped through Central and West Texas. He is eventually found in California.

    Their purpose was to study the land to the North. Esteban is later killed by the Zunis for demanding their women and children. Fray Marcos reports seeing the most beautiful, grand, and golden city.

    On the expedition, his leader was De Soto. After De Soto dies at the Mississippi River, Moscoso takes over. He discovered the Mississippi River. He gives the same basic report as coronado causing it to be untouched for 150 years.

    Coronado's Expedition
    Coronado wanted to find the 7 Cities of Gold and Quivera. His guide was Turk, who led him through 5 States. He is eventually found out, and is forced to dig his own grave, where they bury him after Coronado strangles him.Coronado discovers the Palo dDuro Canyon in Texas, and the Grand Canyon in Arizona. His report of Texas caused the Spanish to leave it alone for 150 years.
