Germany declared war on russia but in result of them fighting poverty broke out with shortages of food and fuel. Russia's army became rebelious and refused to fight any longer. -

After the death of Czar Nicholas the Bolshevik take power. Serfs were freed and political organizations were formed. Industrialization comes into place with liberals, nationalists, peasant socialist, and Marxists all putting in ideas. -
The Fall of Czar Nicholas
In response of rioting in Petrograd, the Duma set up provisional government forcing Czar Nicholas out of his throne. the Bolsheviks later killed him and his family. -
The New Soviet
This soviet opposed provisional government other soviets looked at this new soviet as a model and were soon set up throughout Russia. -
Dual Power
Consisted of provionsal government and the petrograd soviet. Business people, military officers, and government officials supported the provisional government and industrial workers and inlisted soldiers supported the soviet. -
Uprise of Lenin
Lenin returned to petrograd in April trying to over throw the proviosnal government. Uprising began, but once in order Lenin was ordered to be killed but he escaped. -

This new government ran by the bolshevicks gave workers the right to control factories, land, and anyone who opposed the revolution. The new government caused Russia to withdraw from the war with Germany. -
Treaty of Brest-Litovsk
This treaty was to prevent german invasion but ended up benefiting Germeny. few territories became independent, while several fell under german control. Russia also lost food producing land and factories. -
Civil War
Russia fighting in Civil War
The whites (counterrevolutionaries) fought against the red army (communist). The whites had help from several countires, they ended up winning and the revolution was over. -
Aftermath of the Russian Revolution
Russia became the Soviet Union and was controlled by Stalin until his death in March 1953. -
